Notes
Kraftwerk's ninth studio album, released in November 1986, five-and-a-half years after the previous album, 'Computerwelt'. 'Electric Cafe' was delayed for several reasons, including Ralf Hütter's cycling accident in 1982. The album was originally to include the 1983 single 'Tour De France'.
As with all of Kraftwerk's studio albums from 'Trans Europa Express' (1977) onwards, 'Electric Café' was issued in English- and German-language versions. A Spanish-language version – the 'Edición Española' – was also available for a limited time. Unlike earlier albums, all versions of 'Electric Café' feature lyrics in several languages.
In 2009 a remastered version was released under one of the album's working titles, 'Techno Pop'. On this version the original 8:03 album version of 'The Telephone Call' was replaced by two tracks: the 7" mix of 'The Telephone Call' (3:50) and the remix 'House Phone' (4:57). Both had originally appeared on the single release of 'Der Telefon Anruf'.
Although Wolfgang Flür was a member of Kraftwerk until 1987, he did not perform on the album.

- Edited one month agoPurchased brand new in an MINT condition, vinyl record is flat on side No.2 and nearly flat on side No.1(have to look closely).
Vinyl used is uber quiet no surface noise in between or during tracks.
Most if not all tracks are good to great with no real "fillers",the sound quality here is up to the same standards as "Tour de France"(https://www.discogs.com/release/16029158-Kraftwerk-Tour-De-FranceVinyl front-end used for this review:).
Now T.D.F is obviously a much more known/popular album especially the title track but here you have a few killer tracks in; "Musique Non Stop","The Telephone Call" and "Sex Object".
The flow of the album is spot on with no need to be jumping tracks and just putting on from start to finish each side.
This comes "highly recommended" for musical content, sound quality and the price five stars.
Turntable:Rega P3/RB880 tonearm/Neo psu.

Music 5*
Sound quality 5*
Mastering/pressing 5* - Mine is nice a flat and quiet albeit the vinyl was a mess of inner sleeve debris and required a wash before it went near my stylus. Great sound, great pressing and a different more percussive side to Kraftwerk that i highly enjoy!
- Dynamic and high quality pressing exceeding the fidelity of most modern black vinyl with minimal surface noise and IGD.
Musique Non Stop is the jam. - I absolutely agree with what is said below about the sound quality on this release.Wonderful seperation and crystal clear.
My problem is with the book. The pictures are over-large and repetitive.A minor point though. It`s the music that matters. - Optimal sound. Couldn't be better. Gatefold edition, very nice. Great quality printing of inner artwork. Unlike the reissues released under the title 'Techno Pop,' this one comes with the name 'Electric Cafe.'
- Edited 9 months ago1986 (when this was released). Machine-based rhythms. Electronic music becoming mainstream pop. No interruptions by talking deejays. Sexual excitement achieved by things that do not live. People meet, but only talk over the telephone.
It's called "electric café".
2024 (when I'm writing this). Quantised music. Machines doing the mix. Autotuned voices. Pop stars created by artificial intelligence. People sitting next to each other, texting each other. People busier with their portable devices than the persons sitting or standing next to them.
Kraftwerk's future vision of an electric café evolved via the Internet to the collection of unrelated bubbles named social networks, where the value of someone is quantised by the number of people willing to follow that person. Makes me wonder whether Kraftwerk conceived this album to praise the opportunities of the future, or as a warning sign not to over-machine ourselves... - Got this bronze pressing. Sound quality is excellent (presuming it's been transferred from the remastered Techno Pop when The Catalogue came out) . Der Telefon Anruf is split into the single edit and Housephone (although not split on the vinyl), and not listed on the rear of the sleeve. Sleeve could have been of better quality, but I got my copy very cheap and brand new, so not moanng!
