Notes

The tape released in 1982 (and later, unofficial reissues) feature synthesizer parts. Around 2004 her son Ravi Coltrane discovered earlier recordings without synthesizer, which were first released in 2021 as Alice Coltrane - Kirtan: Turiya Sings. But an official reissue of the original 1982 tape does not exist (yet): "because the Coltrane family has never found its master synthesizer recordings" (Jenn Pelly, Pitchfork, 2021-07-17).

Was this a version of the recording sans synth? Or is this just a typographical variation with the same music?

Same sleeve as the og cassette but the music is the other session without strings, same as the other official reissue. Do not buy this.

It's kind of frustrating that this doesn't have the strings and the synths even though they are mentioned on the sleeve – this is why I bought this version in the first place.

Is there a tape rip without the noise reduction anywhere? I'd much rather have a bit of good old tape hiss than the god-awful high-frequency FFT brain-cheesegrater shitshow I've heard in all the available rips and reissues. It is an absolute *crime* that the version of Yamuna Tira Vihari with strings cannot be heard.

Yes it's a bootleg, and yes the quality isn't the best as it's most certainly coming from a digitized tape, but the music is hauntingly beautiful, and who am I to say no to this. It's not like I can afford an original cassette tape for 650$.
