Having known John S. Hall for many years and interviewed him several times, he actually confessed that he does not really care for this album (at least half of it). He said that basically he just went into the studio and recorded a shit-load of poetry over some samples that Kramer had personally picked out. John did not think that many of the samples fitted with his poems, but some of them were very good.

Now, personally - I love this album, I think it all works quite well (in a disjointed kind of way), but I understand where John was coming from - some of the samples would've been suited for other poems (or perhaps not suited anywhere at all). For example, I believe that "Water" is absolutely perfect, and the same goes for "Francis Bacon". Although, tracks like Enjoy Your Tea, and Trees really sound off putting.
All in all, I would give this a 8.5 out of 10, very strong release, with some of John's best written words contained within!
