Reviews
- So this version with the black label was released in 1989 (according to the label) but has the Turbo B verse (“Like the snap of the whip … and you don’t want that!”), NOT the Chill Rob G verse (“Don’t say this, don’t say that, change your lyrics…”).
So am I correct that there were two versions of this record, both released as LOGIC 612 938:
* Black label, contains Turbo B vocals, 5:42 https://www.discogs.com/release/229154-Snap-The-Power
* Light-gray label, contains original Chill Rob G sample from “Let the Words Flow”, 5:42 https://www.discogs.com/release/20337-Snap-The-Power
Were this version and the Chill Rob G version released at the same time? - Edited 2 years ago

Legendary track and one of the reasons why I got into House in the first place. It was an easy transition since I was already in love with Hip Hop at the time. Once Hip Hop faded out, House took over my soul. So many memories... Love the 'Power Dub' referencing The Power (12", 45 RPM, Maxi-Single) 612 938
does anybody know if this version is different from the "Power Jam" release on Wild Pitch?- i don't think this is a 89 release. This is the 90 remix with "Turbo B" (even the cover shows a 90 date). The 89 mix is basically an unauthorized sample of "Chill Rob G", and this remix is a response to him releasing "Power Jam" on Wild Pitch Records.
- OMG that original by Luca Anzilotti and Michael Münzing with the Rob G vocals! True masters of sampling. This whitelabel set a new high standard!

The U.S. Single Version is superior in every way to the 5:42 original version: It has more samples & elements and is much, much more interesting to listen to.
The differences between the U.S. Single Version and the original single mix (the one used in the video) are a bit subtle...the U.S. one is missing the Russian dialogue at the start, has the hi-hats missing from the 2-bar section that preludes Jocelyn's "I've Got The Power" sample, and takes longer to get to the first Turbo B rap (among some other structural differences that makes it flow much nicer). referencing The Power (12", 45 RPM, Maxi-Single) 612 938
The one and only original version with the Chill Rob G sample - long time before they had to hire Turbo B due to the succes.referencing The Power (7", 45 RPM, Single, Stereo) 112 938
Strange thing. The actual duration of side B is 3:43referencing The Power (CD, Maxi-Single, Stereo) 662 938
Session singer Penny Ford, who later became a member of Snap! and toured with the group, explains that Münzing and Anzilotti’s production with the Rob G. vocals “…was the first take of it. They had recorded it and nobody knew it was going to be a hit, and it was long before it was released on any major level. It was a work in progress, and basically what they [later] did was just took him [Rob G.] off of it and put another rapper [Turbo B] on it.” She actually does not refer to Rob G.’s vocals as a sample and explicitly states
