Lynyrd Skynyrd Band* – Gold & Platinum

Meh… sounds just okay. Generally a little bit thin and bright with not nearly enough bottom end. (Sounds like a girl I used to date! 🤣) The songs are kind of all over the place in regard to the mix which I suppose is to be expected with the use of different studios and engineers over the years. Some definitely sound better than others.

This could use a good remaster because it’s a great cross section of their tunes for a casual listener that doesn’t want to buy the entire library.

Both discs are nice and quiet. Very well pressed.

Pretty decent press of one of the best if not the best known compilations by a Southern Rock outfit of the era. The only compilation of LS material from the last century that really competes with this one would be Skynyrd’s Innyrds, though many would find this one superior due to the inclusion of tracks like “On The Hunt”, “Gimme Back My Bullets”, “You Got That Right”, “Tuesday’s Gone”, and “Simple Man”. This pressing isn’t bad for the time it was pressed.

A great compilation, nice mix of songs. Sound is rich, loud and clear, really like this pressing! Dig it! Come with a Lyrics insert.

Early issue has gold labels on sides 1 and 2 and platinum labels on sides 3 and 4. Later issue has the 1980's "Cloud" label.
