Lynyrd Skynyrd – One More From The Road

Printed in 1981. NOT ONLY Is Track List On The J-card Wrong, But, The Sequencing On The Tape itself Is Out Of Order !!!!! This is a Rare Tape....Period.

Labels have a catalog number of MCA 2-6897 that is different from what is printed on the spine and lower left front cover (MCA2-8011). Catalog number is also embossed on upper right front cover.

The first side is spirited and will get your hopes up. Side two will likely disappoint with some pretty lifeless versions of lesser Skynyrd tunes like Travellin' Man and Whiskey Rock-a-Roller. (I am pretty sure you can hear someone in the crowd booing.) Probably sensing the ebbing energy, Skynyrd go into 'Sweet Home Alabama,' adding some worth to side two at least. Side three picks up again and Side 4 has 11 minutes of Free Bird.

The issues I have with the sound quality of this album are probably at the source of the live recording and not the pressing. Free Bird sounds like someone made a volume adjustment on the vocals early in the song.

Grab a beer.. drop the needle….Crank up the volume…..get a comfortable seat…..Hell yeah!!!

OK, so the only comparison I can give is to the original UK press and more recent remaster.
This knocks both out of the water, by a mile. It is so alive! Just turn the volume to 11 and enjoy. Clarity and drive are so much better. Soundstage is up a notch so you can really hear the instruments and placement.
An already great live album, sounding great.
Packaging is also a step up.

does anyone know what the recorded music is before Working For MCA?

It all came crashing down in the plane crash when three members of the group perished in 1977...But for a short brief time they made such wondrous music for all...Laid down these tracks at The FOX Theater in Atlanta in 1976...Southern rock IS Lynyrd Skynyrd... All the hits hit this wax from MCA..."Free Bird" flies for over eleven minutes...They play good long tracks of Southern blues and rock...Lots of it on this two record set so settle back and hang with the crowd as everyone rocks the Skynyrd way...

I have this version of the album, the sound quality is awful, avoid it, get the 25th Anniversary Deluxe version instead. That version have the songs remastered and more songs, I get this just for collection, now I'm getting the 25th version.

This music is dynamite, exhilarating and foot tapping wonderful. A must have.
