Notes
This is a concept album that tells the story of a rapper, Tariq (Breeze Brewin from the Juggaknots) as he tries to get money together to make a demo to give to the RZA, and encounters difficulty along the way. Some of the tracks are interludes between the music.

- Since there's no reviews on this...
As per the listing, this is the promo clean version. Swearing is just edited out, but it also means most of the skits that hold the narrative together are not included. I don't mind because I prefer the beats over the story. If you have kids around, consider this release, it's cheap.
As to the press, really good. Full sound, well balanced. Recommend. - Edited 11 months ago

For those for whom these kinds of things matter, there are some of this pressing with the hype sticker being a yellow oval, with the writing in red. It does not feature the Tommy Boy dancer/logo. It reads:
Prince Paul's Sophomore Studio Album
Limited Edition Reissue
Yellow & Red Splatter Vinyl x 2
Fetures the Cuts
"Macula's Theory,"
"More Than U Know"
& "Weapon World"

Why doesn’t this album get more love? It’s phenomenal. I can hear some Portishead influence on a few beats. referencing A Prince Among Thieves (2×LP, Album, Club Edition, Reissue, Red & Orange Marble) TB 1210
Flat and clean. Love this "Hip Hopera" as I like to call it. Worth noting that the CD version of this that I've listened to over the years actually has some vinyl noise effects within the tracks themselves. For example "Weapon World" has a surface noise effect that is actually in the recording and is not from the vinyl itself. This is a classic hip hop record that still flies over people's heads. I've been an evangelist for this album for years. One of the best VMPs I have.referencing A Prince Among Thieves (CD, Album) TBCD 1210
Prince among thieves released in 1998 99
When paul call Superstar aka Horror City to put together a super group in 1995 96 Horror City rap on 90% of the prince among thieves tracks to make a long story story short paul replaced the 9 mcs we put together with known rappers in the industry he kept a couple of Horror City songs on the project. And Sha played a major role along breeze what the world doesn't know the whole concept of Prince among thieves is base off of MC HUSTLER PUT THE NEXT MAN ON abd WAR PARTY the songs Horror City wrote in 95 96 thats why when paul released Horror City 95 some of the tracks are the same.
Its 2 sides to every story ask somebody

Another classic tale from the Prince. A refreshing perspective used to tell the age old tale of jealousy, hopes, dreams, poor decisions, and betrayal. The guest vocals are what had me buggin' though - I lost my shit when I heard Sadat X, Everlast , and Xzibit . Just going through the liner notes, tripped me out on just who was on here, but why wouldn't they be? The storytelling here is as cohesive, if not more than , any Chronic, OB4CL, or Ready to Die - so why has it been left in history to lounge in obscurity ? Well I am glad I woke up from my sleep to hear this one. It may be the only time I hear it, save if given the opportunity to share it with another listener. "Prince Among Thieves" is a great record to vibe to by yourself , but this LP is a indie film turned into a cult classic - that blockbuster feel , where the theater should be packed for the performance, though because of the money put in advertisement only one or two seats are guaranteed to be filled througout the duration of the quality work, making it unsung to the masses but a certified legend in the minds and hearts of purists.
If only Tariq would have had more lines, spoken up more, but hey, such characters like that actually do exist in the hood. Agreeable due to circumstance and the break neck pace such environments function in. This is what makes "Prince" more of a documentary than just a script, the unflinching honesty through triumph and tears that makes even the final moments seem as if they are occuring in your world as the matrix runs out. Prince Paul was able to put listeners in the Matrix, his matrix , long before Neo came on the scene , and being twenty-three years after the initial release , long after as well.
Shakesperian Hip-Hop if ever the subgenre existed. referencing A Prince Among Thieves (2×LP, Album, Club Edition, Reissue, Red & Orange Marble) TB 1210

An absolute gem. High quality spot foil jacket. Pressing runs flat and silent in the quiet passages with amazing bass. The variant color is a transparent red with orange marbling that is hard to notice, but definitely there.
Powerful reissue.
Kudos to VMP for another relic done right.
