Notes
Originally recorded in June 1982 as a demo tape, this release came out in 1982 on Queensrÿche's vanity label 206 Records. It was re-issued in 1983 after the band signed to EMI Records. A CD version was released in 1988 with the bonus track "Prophecy", which was recorded for the band's second album "Rage for Order" (1986), though that song had actually been performed live since at least '82 or '83.
"Queen of the Reich," the opening track, was released as a single in 1983 to support this release.
This release has always been referred to by the band as their first album, but the band's official website calls it "Queensrÿche EP"

- Just bought this preowned and vinyl looks mint after a preliminary wet brush cleaning, no scratches or scuffs visible. On first play there was crackle heard on quiet parts mostly: mix is well balanced with crisp highs. Had to turn down treble eq a bit which is rare on my system. Playing right now for a 2nd time and much less noise is heard even on the quiet vocal part like in Lady wore black track. This a great pressing and worth the $28 I paid. I am slowly buying all their albums from older to newer it seems to be a natural progression. I only really knew about Empire and OMC when I was in my youth, and of course loved those albums. Glad to be hearing where they started it all!

I was a young man when I took a chance and bought this record at Sears not long after it was released. I had never even heard of them, but I was blown away when I gave it a listen. I was even more impressed when I saw them open up for Kiss in 1985. I saw them 4 more times through the early 90's and they always stole the show from the headlining act. This album, along with The Warning, are my favorites from the band.referencing Queensrÿche (12", EP, Win) DLP-19006
Mine has a newspaper style insert that is full of articles on Queensryche. Very cool, but don’t see it listed with any pressings, so just a memento someone had and left in the EP?- Both versions I own were bought back in 1986, the copy I play holds up really well. The Media may have some marks here and there, but the sound itself is as good as it was when first bought.
- Listening to this ep right now. Amazing. Purchased this new a long time ago and still today the music holds true. Sounds fantastic for a low budget recording. But it is what started this band out in the ears of Metal. A great way to get into Queensryche and to hear them how they sounded at the start before remaster disasters.

Here is the '83 debut EP by Queensryche. I saw the band on their first USA tour, opening for Iron Maiden and Saxon. I was so impressed with their early prog-metal sound that I ran out to buy the record the next day.
These four tracks are well composed and each sound different from another. Some care has gone into the arranging to thoughtfully layer in dual distorted guitars, not an easy feat when both are thick and competing for sonic space.
A most impressive member here is Geoff Tate on vocals. He energizes the band sound with sheer technical proficiency and dynamics. Wilton and DeGarmo compliment each other perfectly with interwoven guitar parts.
The recording is tracked cleanly and mixed beautifully. However, the final mix/master suffers from too much compression and a scooped EQ profile, not unusual for '80s metal, but sounding muddy and dated by modern standards. The bass frequencies are thick and the guitars are somewhat notched. If this release should get remastered on vinyl in the future and EQ corrected, I will be first in line to buy a fresh copy.
I became a Queensryche fan the first night I saw them performing these four songs live. Oddly, I always thought this debut EP was their best work. What an amazing way to hit the scene.
Four stars. Recommended. - Super rare early ASCAP version on 206 Records. Not to be confused with the later release on 206 without the ASCAP.

The liner notes may say written in October 1988 but the CD could have been released at any time in Oct, Nov or Dec of 1988 so your "fact" of being released in 1989 is incorrect.
