John Fogerty – Centerfield

Kind of a dull pressing of an otherwise great album.

This version has a very low volume and is a little bass shy; the sound is almost perfect though

“ The album is dedicated to "Gossamer Wump". Fogerty said in an interview, "When I was a young kid, my brothers had a record called 'The Adventures of Gossamer Wump.' Gossamer Wump is a little kid who saw a big parade comin' down the road and thinks 'Hey, this is what I want, I want to be a musician.'

"Gossamer goes through all the instruments comin' by and does not know how to decide what instrument he wants to play. Then, at the end of the parade he sees the triangle and thinks, 'Yes, that's what I want to play.' Determined to learn how to play the triangle, Gossamer takes his belongings and 26 peanut butter sandwiches and leaves for the big city. On his way he sings 'jingle, jongle, jangle, ah'm goin' to the big city to learn to play the triangle.'

"In the city, Gossamer starts taking lessons and very soon he plays 'tingle.' After ten years of courage, determination, and hard work Gossamer plays 'tingle.' No difference? At first sight, no, but Gossamer, he can hear the difference. This is what I like about this story. After ten years in my garage, I played alone. They maybe don't hear the difference, but I do. Gossamer stuck to his dream, and that's why I dedicated this album to Gossamer Wump." “

BOY HOWDEE this is a Hot Mix plenty of volume to get the VU meters dancing. It’s well mixed and balanced hard not to love this album. Clean it’s quite and so lively when played it’s a must own SQ 10/10

This is a fantastic sounding record. It helps that its on quiet Japanese vinyl. I dont know how a US original compares but this is certainly a great sounding record, too good as a matter of fact to the point where it doesn’t sound anywhere near as close to how I remember it

Ah, who doesn’t love 80s synthesized handclaps, right? Put me in, Coach!

from '85, Fogerty's 3rd solo album, and I say his very best. He knocks it out of the park, at least into deep centerfield. I think John plays all instruments here, and the mix is really beautiful.

Early US pressing with "Zanz...", Not "Vanz". Obvious standouts are "Old Man", "Centerfield", "Rock and Roll Girls". Plenty of variety, not the sameness of a CCR record.

Wonderful sounding pressing. So much detail and great dynamics, sounds even better the louder you crank it. This is a great copy. 4.5 stars. Recommended.

Centerfield is the third solo studio album and the first in 9 years of hiatus by musician John Fogerty. on this album Fogerty played all the instruments himself, thanks to overdubbing.

Some of these 2018 reîssues are on green vinyl, but I guess it's nowhere mentioned on the cover ? Is it ?
