love the fat bass-line on 'no coke', but 'groove machine' is a little known DJ classic.referencing No Coke (7", 45 RPM, Single) 114 635
I think Dr Alban has a bit of a cruelly poor rep in the UK since his somewhat cheesy "It's My Life" was used on a feminine hygiene ad. I rather liked his earlier stuff, which came in that period when European rappers weren't going to let the fact that they weren't Rakim get in the way of having a go. They came up with some fairly individual records along the way, including Alban's own "Hello Afrika" & this one, obviously an anti-drugs song which doubtless fell on deaf ears amongst its principal audience. Catchy, catchy, catchy.
