Who says that disco-funk is dead? Certainly not Freeform Five who insists on the genre's life with STRANGEST THINGS, which chucks in the electro with "Electromagnetic." The oddly-named "Eeeeaaooww" stomps in with attitude and a disco chorus with a catchiness that can't be denied. The bounce beats of "Losing My Control" will get fingers snapping, while "Easy" and "Slow" take a quieter, more delicate tone for a comedown tracks. But the title track brings the beats the back up, and "Shake" adds some Spanish guitar strums for flavor. On the remix disc, Richard X puts a shiny 80s rub on "No More Conversations," while Mylo plays up the low-frequency oscillations. Tiefschwarz make "Electromagnetic" slightly mysterious, while Lindstrøm goes for a more minimal disco throb. The Vybz Kartel remix of "Eeeeaaooww" adds a definite Indian hip-hop flavor to it, while Radio Slave dig deep. M.A.N.D.Y. does the same for "Strangest Things," and in a fascinating twist, 80s stalwarts Heaven 17 take a stab at "What Do I Want From You?" I suppose stranger things have happened...

This album on a whole attacks 2 types of audience. Part 1 comprises of tracks that are directed to the radio listeners and indie fans. Part 2 attacks the DJ's and club junkies with tight electro bassline remixes to fill the dancefloor. I'm pretty much intrigued by Part 2 as there's a wide variety of styles to get yourself immersed into. 'Strangest Things (M.A.N.D.Y Remix)', 'No More Conversation (Mylo Remix)', 'Electromagnetic (Tiefschwarz Unreleased Vocal Remix)' & 'Eeeeaaooww (Stanton Warriors Remix)' are the tracks which caught my attention. Hypnotic beats and tight basslines, bundled with occassional vocal hooks and laser shots. Pretty much something that I loved house back in '05 when it was still cool and deep in the underground.
