The Charlatans – Us And Us Only

Not a review as such but I did buy the 2019 RE and thought it was poor in general and hardly ever played it because of this. Took the plunge last week on a 1999 OG and can honestly say it's night and day (yet has lower ratings than reissue) yet the comments prove beneficial and can confirm this is the one to try and add to your collection. So much better. Save your extra pennies and buy an original 👍🏻

After taking what some might consider to be extreme measures, I was able to get my copy to play 95ish% quiet. Sadly The Blonde Waltz appears to have a visible tiny dimple in the last 10 seconds of the track, which is clearly a pressing defect as Good Witch, Bad Witch 2 has a similar repeating pop, though less pronounced. Yes, my copy is of low volume as well.

Terrible quality reissue , its that bad im wondering if anyone checked it before it was distributed ?

The original pressing sounds absolutely fantastic. I've got it spinning on the turntable right now.
The 2019 reissue... I wouldn't go near it; full of noise.

If you're looking for a copy of this album, I would recommend you spend a little bit more and invest in the 1999 pressing.

Like all have already mentioned the mastering is way below and the volume needs to be cranked up to get anything near the levels we expect from the charlatans. Also my copy came with a scratch that appears within the clear vinyl not on the surface...strange one thankfully has no additional effect on the play quality, just a pressing fault straight out the sleeve. Still love it though with all its flaws... its just a beautiful album from start to finish. Forever my beautiful friends ✌🏻

Firstly you need to crank this record higher up in volume than most, which is never a good first sign... clearly mastered way too low. Cleaned once with Okki Nokki and snaps and pops prominently remain. Will leave it in a bath of deionised water and see if that helps evaporate them. Not holding my breath though. Great album, seemingly tossed out.

The original sounds fantastic. The bass is at the center of most songs with the vocals ever present. A must for all Charlatans fans.

I have two copies and the "snaps and pops" are throughout. A bit disappointing, I gave both a good cleaning too. Also, no download codes. I hope this album is released again with better QC.

The muffling goes away a bit with a good clean. but the pops and crackles remain

A major big fuzzy muff surrounds the mix on both sides of my copy. At first I thought it was my needle or accumulated dust -- but now seeing others reporting similar sound issue. Played some of the original 7" singles from this album to compare and the mastering/mixing is night and day difference with the 7" versions coming out crisp and clear. Something went very wrong with this vinyl mastering. Too bad, because the transparent vinyl and glossy sleeve is otherwise great.
