Reviews
- Can anybody confirm the time durations on this German pressing? Are they really that much shorter compared to the US release? Why would they make a 12" like this... licensing issues?
- Am I the only one preferring "Please Love Me Again" over "West Coast Drive"?
if i had to choose one track for killing the dancefloor it would be "Please Love Me Again". Visually speaking when you hear this track, just imagine you have Captain America in the middle on the dancefloor shouting "Dancers Assemble !" and obviously you cannot resist joining the party and moving your b*tt". I also like the "drama" in that song, feel real (or how to make what could be a very boring love catch phrase incredibly live and believable during 6 minutes). The intro is also very filmographic (you feel like you were a captain riding a horse, leading the calvary.. you are unstoppable, self-confident, on killing spree (sorry for the Native Americans)....This track makes you travel in space and time believe me.
West Coast is a bit boring for me. Great track but i don't know just once in a while to appreciate it (whereas I can play the A side 10 times in a row)
FYI these 2 tracks are included on some Telemusic lIbrary funky sh*t (from memory Telemusic 80), short version for both (under the true artist names, not VIP connection). need to document it in Discogs one day (last time i checked it was not)
Little story: a friend of mine listened "Please Love me again" and he was like: "damn these guys haven't created anything, it's simply "Retiens La Nuit" melody from Johnny Hallyday's famous song, with some funky sh*t added :D ...cannot disagree with him, but i bow down to them, tthe track is such a masterpiece.
If i had to choose one track for a live performance, obviously it will be "West Coast Drive". - Top quality remastered reissue of a wonderful lost disco gem by cult French cosmic disco maestros Arpadys and probably the rarest ever 12” release by them.
Originally released back in 1976, has become one of the holy grails with disco DJs and collectors mainly for the killer B-side, the incredible "West Coast Drive", a guaranteed floor-filler with a superb funky mid-tempo disco groove and beautifully produced and arranged live horn and string sections.
Played by everyone from Baldelli to DJ Harvey, this is a must have for any serious disco collection. Essential!!!! referencing Please Love Me Again (7", 45 RPM) PE 22.134
