Reviews
- Edited 4 months agoI have to join all our friends here: this is a sonic delight, a masterpiece of vinyl music.
Great fun. As always in ecm recordings, here we have a tremendous group of incredibly talented musicians.
I’m not into the idea of comparing these with blue note or any other audiophile labels. Ecm are the top for my personal taste but some old and new stuff coming from America it’s also great.
I think however, there’s another record where the sonic impact, due to the nature of the music and instruments involved, is bigger: Egberto gismonti “sol do meio dia” ecm1116. That one is from another world!!!
Tks Mr Manfred.. - I agree with djoci, it is also one of the best-sounding records in my collection. Super tight but also spacious, each instrument is perfectly placed. A delight to the ears.
- Edited one year agoOne of the best-sounding records in my collection. It feels the group is in the room right there in front of you. There's no surface noise or pops whatsoever.
- Edited one year agoHoly cow! This pressing is a sonic delight! Real people playing real music! What a concept! If you found your way here, then you probably realize this ain’t no yacht rock or Kenny G stuff here. They know the rules already and who needs stinkin’ rules? I believe these are indeed the original stampers on this.
- I had a Pavement shirt from their tour in '96 that stole the graphic from the cover of this album. I wish I still had it.
- exceptional master and pressing as befits this album's status
made in germany (oolahlah)
if you're a fan of free/avant garde jazz, you should buy this - Edited one year agoMonumental reissue. Absolutely fantastic sounding, and indeed i'd say better than any Acoustic Sounds or Tone Poet out there. This 2017 release uses the same ol stampers from 1973, so not only ofc you are getting the original mastering for this record, but you also get that sweet sweet AAA guarantee. The pressing is absolutely dead quiet with one or two ticks only, and we are talking about an album that features very very silent sections. It even comes with a polysleeve. Get one before these go out of print.
- Edited 2 years agoPulsating, original and influental album that belongs to the best what was recorded in 70´s. After first listening I had mixed experiences, but more and more it pulled me in.There are fabulous up tempo tracks, also free Interception with Near East motive. Original melodies are repeated in different ways through the songs. In title song with perhaps Celtic ideas. Q&A can really reminds meeting of birds. The artists communicate together perfectly like in Now Here. There is no dominant instrument, Rivers perfect technically, Braxton emotional, Holland precisse and Altschul very contemporary. But the whole album "smells" with unique mood or atmosphere. The sound is terrific, clear and dynamic. Instruments have natural colour and separation. The record was necessary properly clear. Also helped two-three time listen the record. After that is very silent. Highly recommended album and reissue.
