- Very nice pressing, the sound is clear, dynamic, and the intruments are well placed in space. Project re vinyl is just the best.
- Edited 7 months agoAs always, Project Re:Vinyl shows the rest of the world how all repressings should sound. This is audiophile-quality stuff, sold at a fair price (not sure if this is still the case because of all the flippers/scalpers).
The music jumps out of the speakers so full of life and style you would think the band is in front of you if you closed your eyes. Jaw-dropping separation, clarity, dynamics; dead-quiet vinyl and no compression.
The pink vinyl at first looks out of place but is actually very stylish (it is translucent, which I find much more appealing than some solid tutti-frutti pink wax) and does not diminish the sound qualities of the release.
Thank you Yusuke Ogawa for taking such pride and care in your work with the Re:Vinyl series, and thank you Inagaki-san and company for the great sounds.
PS: just read that Jiro Inagaki has passed away at 90 years old. RIP to this jazz master, who if had been born in the USA or Europe would have been much more revered than he is. Hopefully in his last years he enjoyed the renewed fame the internet had brought him (hopefully this also meant that he was fairly financially compensated). Thank you, thank you, thank you! - Amazing sound! Great press. Incredible separation of instruments sounds.
Clear and dinamic sound (Moving Coil (MC) Cartridge - GS-66 EMC Gradiente Needle). - Awesome sound and colors! This is a masterpiece, I would love to listen the first release and compare it.
- Edited 10 months agoDrop the needle, and you’d think you were sitting in a smoke-filled jazz club of yesteryear. Huge soundstage, clear separation of instruments, and a dead-quiet pressing - though it does require a bit of volume. One of those hidden gems that you need to grab now, before it becomes unaffordable.
- Soul Media's vinyl release of 'Funky Stuff' is a remarkable auditory experience that truly showcases the exceptional quality of vinyl recordings. From the moment the needle drops, the listener is immersed in a world of rich, dynamic soundscapes that vinyl enthusiasts often rave about. The album’s production is meticulous, allowing each instrument to shine through with clarity and depth.
The bass lines are groovy and resonate with a warmth that is often lost in digital formats. The crispness of the high hats and the vibrancy of the brass sections are testament to the superior sound quality of this vinyl. Moreover, the album's mixing and mastering are done in such a way that it brings out the best of the funky genre, creating an immersive experience that is both nostalgic and refreshingly modern.
Overall, 'Funky Stuff' on vinyl is not just a listening experience; it’s a journey through the best of what the funk genre and vinyl medium have to offer. A must-have for audiophiles and funk lovers alike. - System used:

If you like your Jazz FUNKY then you`ll Love this cd,all the tracks here are amongst some of the best Japanese funky you`ll find that`s accessible to most on it`s 1st play. These musicians don`t really miss a beat & keep the pace throughout this disc.
The bass is HEAVY & Groovy along with the percussion/drums they carry the groove very well indeed, symbols shimmer with crystal clarity & supreme detail.Horn when called for have real a brassy metallic sound that`s adds the jazz to this funk.
Hiromasa Suzuki`a electric piano seems to be not as prominent as the rest but this matters not when you hear how well the others shine, just listen to that electric guitar it`s so funky.
This cd sounds very analog and has air, stereo separation, soundstaging, ambiance, dynamics etc. in spades.
Highly recommended & may just save a fortune over a Mint/Near Mint vinyl copy, thank you for reading.
Music:5.0
Mastering/cd production:5.0
Sound quality:5.0 - One of the best sounding records I own. Thankful it arrived in the US in perfect condition from Tokyo. The record is dead-quiet. No pops, no static. Wonderfully mastered and recorded, every instrument has a felt presence and wide dynamic range. Drums especially are exceptional.
