what can i say, more about "rhode tune"...
1996-2014...classic for next decades

Not sure that i can consider this Drum And bass whatever. It sounds for me like Late Intelligent Jungle,Especially The Rhode Tune,which has a very nice Organic Break,and nothing sounding so sinthetic. Whatever,this is one Really Classic,that will not get forgotten in any case. Like many of Flytronix releases,It mix Some Funky Rhythm With that nice space and atmospheric sound. if you are more attracted to an easy listening of this,i would tip you to buy the Archive album,which has many of these songs that were so powerful and continues good to listen even after all of these days in a more easy orientated CD.

Again, another classic from Danny De Mierre. Both these tracks gained great notoriety back in 1995 as they were caned at Speed at the Mars Bar, off Tottenham Court Road. No surprise really when you know they are from the producer known as Flytronix, one half of the legendary Hyper On Experience.

First up is the Rhodes Tune, aptly named due to its heavy, yet simple, Fender Rhodes chord sequence. While this Jazzy sound was all too new on the scene at the time, one thing that really set this track apart from the rest of the Jazz fusions being released, and demonstrated Danny De Mierre's raw talent, was its break beat. Another permutation of that super fast rhythm, which added another original break to the all to frequently reworked Amen and Apache breaks. Pure slick two step that just couldn't help rolling it out. Funny in a way, because I hear this style being used again and again by the new talent on Creative Source today... Mutt, Calibre and Mace, to name but a few, all use it on their tracks. For sure, this track remains "In My Soul" even today...

But this is where I get somewhat surprised... Because, to be really fair, while the Rhodes Tune is the more well known track, To Ya is the side I've heard played out most in the clubs back in 95 and 96... To Ya is a great little two step number that uses some brilliant programming on the hi hats and snare drums, and is teamed up to a heavy, moody, raw bass line. All the rhodes and insignia synth sounds that gave Flytronix his reputation are here, and are arranged in a great spaced out jazz step off... This is a style that would later be revisited by De Mierre on his Destiny Remix for DJ Pulse. Simple and some what understated, this track was dropped by Fabio at Speed and Tempo loads when it first got transfered from DAT to acetate. Again, this is De Mierre playing around with beats and breaks in a way that would precipitate the jazz step vibe that Peshay, Carlito, Danny C and Mike Pears would eventually adopt...

Two amazing tracks that stand as testament to Danny De Mierre's genius... De Mierre will always be a leading pioneer of drum and bass.

Ahh, The Rhode Tune track! This track gives me a lot of good memories. One of my favourites back in 1996, when I listened the most to breaks... A track that for sure proved that Danny Demierre handled the jazzy side of drum n bass really well. I never got tired of this track. Happy vibes, relaxed jazzy influences and beats that make me move around... Anyway, check it out if you are into jazzy drum n bass from that period. A classic if you ask me...
