The best prince album in the new age. So sad he died after this album. He was on to something so legit and I wonder what would have came next. I miss you prince!

Side c and d on my copy sound horrible. Pressing looks clean but there is real bad noise issues throughout. Disc one sounds great tho.. super disappointed.

One of the best sounding records I own, amazing range of sound crystal clear. A joy to spin.

2nd Album Revolution #8: Out of all the albums in his late years, "Art Official Age", in my opinion, is hands down the best of them...Signing a 2 album deal with "Warner Bros." records, that also brought about "Plectrumelectrum" with "3rdEyeGirl" ("Hannah Welton", "Ida Nielsen" & "Donna Grantis"), "Art Official Age" is the kind of album from 'Prince" no one saw coming (even though he was very capable of it)....In this venture, "Prince" (for once in his life) let someone, besides himself, sit in the co-producers chair...That privilege went to "Donna Welton's" husband, "Joshua Welton"...With their 2 heads together, songs like "Art Official Cage" and "The Gold Standard" are a breath of fresh air to "Prince" fans....This album right here are full of Crown Jewels, so I will go in order about them...1st: "Clouds" (feat. Llanne La Havas), is an "Electo Funk" dream (I am sure my wife and kids are sick of hearing this one!!!!!!)...2nd: "Breakdown" is the best slow song he had since "Call My Name"...3rd: "U Know" is an out of this world musical experience....4th: "Breakfast Can Wait", is a cute smooth joint...5th: "This Could Be Us" is another great slow jam, "A Classic Prince Slow Jam"...6th: "What It Feels Like" (feat. Andy Allo), is another smooth "Eletro Funk" joint...7th: "Way Back Home", sounds like a song "Prince" wrote to just get a few things off his chest...8th: "Funknroll"....Now this is MY version of this song!!!! It goes from "Dance" to "Funk", to "Pop Dance" to "Rock", a pure mix bag!!!!! 9th (and final one): "Time" (also feat, Any Allo) is an almost 7 minute smooth joint, that's a perfect album closer....The only things that throws me off is the "Affirmation I, II & III"....I guess one day, if I get some time, I will give it a serious listen...I swear, this album was an hard act to follow for "Prince"....Even though he was giving great album after another at this point, "Art Official Age" raised the bar that I don't even think he realized how high it would be (knowing him, he probably didn't care)....The Album Revolution isn't over, it's just that, after this one, it was a hard act to follow!!!!! (Yes, this is a Prince Classic!!!!!!!)

I think it's an unusually slack quality control (for Prince) "hot" mastering issue re. light distortion on several tracks. It's also present on the CD when there's alot of dynamic & frequency action occurring.

Does anyone have the matrix version of the US Vinyl release? I think that's the version I have, but my matrix matches the European release and there is no matrix listed in these US notes. Thanks!

Plays pretty clean, but my sides C and D have a recurrent little scrape noise in the right channel, audible through headphones. Switched the stylus: the noise doesn't go away. I believe this is the result of a slight warp in the record. . . . "U Know," "Breakfast Can Wait," and "Time" are standout tracks.

I have a misprint of this... the title text is printed wrong. It is outlined white rather than filled white. The only letters that are correct are 'A' and 'C'. Only just noticed when I've compared to this and the cd release.
