From the beginning to the end an endless delirium from the band and prince himself where his voice,his solos,his harmonies.......simply from another planet.MARVELOUS.

This is a beautiful record, his best since Musicology if not better.
If you like the more rock, guitar oriented side of O(+> this is a must-have.
Some great pop compositions and a very interesting sound texture. Kind of raw sounding yet beautifully produced.
I honestly adore this record and I would especially recommend it to anyone who is not so much interested in Prince's music in general but who likes good, well written rock music. A five stars, no contest.

a new Prince, a different Prince and a very good Prince... with lot of guitars

Disappointing pressing. Lots of distortion throughout. Vocals are noticeably bad in "Tictactoe". Some tracks are worse than others. It's almost like someone played it with a dollar worth of nickels taped to a cartridge armed with an elliptical stylus and played it before I got it. I can't believe someone actually listened to this and thought it was acceptable to pass quality control. If it's just my copy let me know, but it was sealed with a band sticker on the shrink so I'm sure I was the first listener.

Very much a band release, so if you're thinking to get a Prince album by another name, you might be somewhat disappointed.
However, Prince is very much present throughout, flexing his power-pop / power-rock muscle, which means a lot of guitar soloing and general purple swagger. Excellent musicianship by everyone, lots of fun.
