Jimi Hendrix – First Rays Of The New Rising Sun

This pressing blew my mind. I own the original CD and later release on CD.

Ive been a bit behind but afyer releasing what QRP has been doing i bought everything up.

Not aure what it is, but i do like this version over cry of love etc. ans this sounds amazing.

Slightly warped and some minor surface noise. I've found warpage common with Experience Hendrix releases other than the 200 gram numbered initial pressings. This has better mastering than the 1997 issue, but not as good as the original RL Cry of Love. I would recommend seeking out original pressings of Cry of Love, Rainbow Bridge and War Heroes for all of these songs, and more.

I'm sticking with the RL Cry of Love pressing over this.

Its got to be most notable that this album was conceived from so many sources and tapes of vastly differing quality and machine alignment . .
It had to be a huge undertaking to produce a consistent sounding mix from essentially 17 different sources.
That alone is a testament to the effort .

Crazy good value here. Feel like I’m stealing compared to other recent albums. Cover art is like something your friend posted to MySpace in 2002, not good, but damn I’ll live.

Dead silent vinyl as per usual with these Hendrix releases. Good grief what a steal at the retail price. Highly enjoyable analog sound, many more frequencies to swim in than my CD. Dig those bells/chimes? on Drifting for example. Insta-buy in my book.

Compared this to the OG 1997 , this wins by a long mile. 1997 is digital, this is analogue.

Also an analogue repress and new cut during 2010, but this is the new golden cut done by BG

Just bought this one in France, the inner sleeves are white paper with a center hole, and it has the matrix version 2 with 20549. What do the two matrix versions correspond to ? USA / Europe ?

I already have the 2010 2LP and I admit I never could really get into this record. Maybe too much overall compression... It doesn't sound natural (analog) to my ears.
This 2024 BG cut is the best I have heard from this release. Nicer sound, with a more present bass. The sound is deeper than on the 2010 cut. Still, it doesn't really sound analog, particularly on the cymbals. Strange, as it's sourced from the analog master tape with an all-analog process. Maybe this comes from the mix...

Anyway this 2024 cut is the real deal, for now. Get it while it's new and cheap !

Is there anyone Who owns this version and the previous one, and willing to explain if there is some noticeable differences between this version and, let's say, the 2010 one..?

Another outstanding Legacy release! I can’t find fault with anything at all whether audio production or manufacturing. Although touted as 150g, one weighs 164g, the other is 181g and are in rice lined poly sleeves.

As of this review it’s still a steal for only $23 at Amazon so don’t overpay the flippers!
