The Cult – Love

Max 3 stars. My experience: no gain, no punch, presence, slightly absent mids and bass is weak. And no volume! Have both new and older pressings, but other than sleeve and color it's just not that good. The mix seems intended for people who listen via telephone and earphones. It's better to spend your money on a slightly older original pressing (but more expensive!). Only interesting for collectors and fans. Not good advertising for Optimal Media GmbH.

Great album! Mix is good. Low end is not incredibly huge and powerful. Mids are strong and highs are clear. Mids... This is where their prominent sound is in the early stuff. It sounds great on this vinyl!

This is an essential rock album that stood out among the throngs of new wave and hair metal popular at the time. It has also held up much better. This pressing is just okay. My copy is nice and quiet, but doesn't sound much different than FM radio. Very middle range with no real separation or dynamics. It sounds fine, but you won't have a vinyl revelation with this one.

All good for me, brought to replace. my aging and played to death OG version. More bass here for sure, but thats not an issue. QC wise this is all good, nothing negative to point out.

This is not the first time hearing this album but it feels like it’s the first time I am enjoying it. I only had one other (US) version and this one is much, much better sounding imho.

This 16-bit remaster, issued 39 years after its debut, sounds amazing. The clarity, dynamics, and mix are perfect. There's no ear daggers or boomy bass to contend with. This sounds like one of those High Dynamic Range albums, I don't think there's any compression at all. Which means it's time to kill the speakers or my ears, whichever occurs first 😉

despite having a bit too much music on the album (51:31), this pressing sounds really good. great soundstage and mastering. you can’t go wrong with 80’s canadian vertigo pressings!

Are all these transparent black / amber? Randomly held my copy to the light. . .

I was disappointed in this remaster; the original is low in volume, this is worse. Plus the tonality is grey and washed out and dynamics are weak. I binned it.
