Notes
This was The Offspring's first full-length studio album.
Originally released on June 15, 1989 on Nemesis (#NEM-006), only 5,000 copies of the vinyl were made at the time and it took the band two and a half years to sell them all. One of the copies was destroyed by Wally George at his show the Wally George Show in 1989, thus leaving only 4,999 copies available. Some copies also have the Cargo logo next to the Nemesis logo on the back cover. Compact cassettes were also released, but they are rare. The vinyl is now the most expensive piece of The Offspring's work as it is also the one of the rarest as it is no longer kept in stock by most media retailers.
The band also re-recorded the tracks "Blackball" and "I'll Be Waiting", which were originally released on a 7" double A-side vinyl record which was distributed by the band itself under the fictitious Black Label Records. The tracks were added to the album, so that it would not just be a 20+ minute mini-album.
Nitro/Epitaph reissued the album on CD (and again on vinyl and cassette) in 1995 after The Offspring gained fame with their third album "Smash", which was released the year before. This reissue features a different artwork instead of the original somewhat controversial "Guitar Alien" front cover artwork, designed by the late Marc Rude. It also had a different catalog number (#86460). This reissue has been out of print for years.
Nitro reissued the album on CD once again in 2001. It has the same cover as the 1995 reissue and was released as catalog number #15803 instead of #86460. The the last track, "Kill The President", is absent from this reissue (it features just the first ten tracks). According to frontman Dexter Holland, "Kill The President" was removed to prevent legal pressure falling upon the band and Nitro.

I've got a copy of this with the labels reversed. Super cool.referencing The Offspring (LP, Album) Nem-006
I wish I hadn't looked now! lol, I can remember selling this, it was the 1st record I ever sold on Discogs, I got a pretty good price for the time though £70.00 I think, I needed the money though and I've had bigger regrets since!!!
It's interesting to see what becomes expensive and from what I can see there's a lot of vinyl going up in price now that was otherwise inexpensive, it's just a case of parting with it, and I haven't quite got the hang of that yet!!! : )referencing The Offspring (LP, Album, Reissue) 86460-1
Wow! Huge sound on this release. Punchy bass and kick drum. Absolutely recommended.referencing The Offspring (LP, Album) Nem-006
Does anybody have an extra sleeve of this release they'd wanna sell? I have the LP and insert, but no sleeve.referencing The Offspring (LP, Album, Reissue) 86460-1
I can confirm "Kill the president" is on this release.referencing The Offspring (Cassette, Album) Nem-006
Does someone who actually own a copy of this cassette can confirm that this very version of "Hey joe" is different from the version who later appeared on the Baghdad EP? Thanks.- This record sounds like it was recorded in my tool shed, which is impressive, as I don't have a tool shed. That is to say it is very raw, but that gives it character and only adds to the energetic performances of these songs. It certainly has an infectious nature, which may or may not cause one to make up tool sheds and write crap reviews.
- I'm also interested why it was removed? I have a copy. Ok, you don't want to sell it via discogs, but why you remove it from catalogue? I want explanations :/
