The Offspring – Splinter

What is the deal with noizy sectors near the center on each side? Looks like a 'hidden content', but there is just a scratching noise.

It's fun to have a pictured disc, I feel no issues with sound quality — it's the same Offspring like it was on my old casette mono-player when 'Smash' had totally smashed me :)

Well the wife got me the Record Store Day Pic Disc so that will do for now! :)

I don't know why I continue to buy RSD vinyl on RSD. Each release I buy, including this one, is $10 cheaper on Discogs only one week later. It is seriously getting old.

For a picture disc, I'm not going to complain about the sound quality at all. It's pretty good. I was expecting a lot worse, so I'll call it a pleasant surprise. But again, it's a picture disc.

Visually: Looks good. The audio quality isn't horrible but could be better.

Side A had a lot of surface noise for me, especially neocon. Side B was much better though. Audio leaves some things to be desired, the mid range seems to be lacking but what is there is quite clear even on the inner tracks. Overall better quality than the anniversary release of Conspiracy of One but too pricy for what you get.

It says on the hype sticker that Pete Parada co-wrote "Da Hui", but he did not join the band untill years later. Did they rerecord that song? I don't own a copy, so I can't check for myself.

I am genuinely shocked at how good this sounds, compared to Round Hill's past Offspring reissues which have been hit or miss. And this is on a picture disc!

My copy sounds actually pretty good, definitely not bad for a picture disc.

No locked groove on mine, the pressing sounds just fine. It wasn't as noisy as I was expecting to hear, and sounded pretty good. They did a good job with this press, very happy with it.
