Canned Heat – Living The Blues

Definitely not an all-analog pressing, though if this was a CD I'd say it's an excellent sounding reissue. The yellow and pink LPs do look cool, and since used copies of Living the Blues are invariably trashed, this will do the job.

When it comes to the Japanese release of the band's most famous Canned Heat albums in the SHM mini LP version. I must admit that the sound quality is very good, definitely better on CDs released in Europe. In my opinion, the album "Bogie with Canned Heat" is particularly well recorded. I recommend these CDs to lovers of good music and good sound. By the way, I only bought CDs in the SHM mini L.P. version. I wrote about this version.

Muszę przyznać, że jakość dźwięku jest bardzo dobra, zdecydowanie lepsza na płytach CD wydawanych w Europie. Szczególnie dobrze nagrana jest moim zdaniem płyta „Bogie with Canned Heat”. Polecam te płyty miłośnikom dobrej muzyki i dobrego dźwięku. Miłego zbierania Wer5.

Note that on this master tracks on CD 1 appear to have reversed channels and are slightly slow (by approx 1%) compared to other versions I have. CD 2 is fine.

In my opinion this is not the best possible mastering but for a quite vinyl listen this release is acceptable. Overall there are some a couple of loud pops and a couple of clicks but nothing that detracts immensely. The most jarring item of note is the lack of the original fade out at the end of side three and lack of the fade in at the beginning of side four. There is also a background hum during the drum solo on side 4. The hum almost sounds like a reverberation from the drums and is not present on my old analogue and my digital copies. Also, the bass seems a little loud and muddy. I am guessing that this new pressing was done off of an existing digital master in sort of a hasty fashion with little regard for the original mix. There is not anything really wrong with this new release, especially if you don't have a copy of Living the Blues. For a better listening experience one might be better off if they can find a good copy of an earlier release.

can anyone comment on this particular pressing? very high rating but not too many reviews so far? I'm looking for the best pressing available of this album?

Wow, it's taken me decades to appreciate the heat, and I'm really impressed with every one of these RSD releases. This just rips and diving into trippy passages on side 2 was a surprise.

The RSD website lists this as a July 17, 2021 Drop release and limited edition of 2500.
