The Beach Boys – 20 Golden Greats

I've had this record a little while. It plays well, the music is great and sounds quite nice. Brian Wilson died the other day so I'm giving it a few spins. It wasn't that long ago I had it on, a couple of weeks maybe. Now the mastermind of so many of these great songs and productions has made his final exit. Thanks for the music BW. Happy trails.

cant stand the weird echo/reverb they put on the songs to achieve stereo - I would avoid this compilation

Decent collection of songs but this has some of the worst sounding mono to stereo effects I’ve heard - makes it sound like they’ve been rerecorded in a tiled bathroom or similar, or like listening to a music festival from a distance. Shame!

This is a nice compilation of Beach Boys 20 greatset hist, and it sounds good too. Album looks great and I can recomendent this easily.

This release contains some incorrect song versions compared to the original issue:
"Barbara Ann" is the single version
"Help Me, Rhonda" is the album (i.e. "The Beach Boys Today!") version
"Wouldn’t It Be Nice" is the alternate mix first released on Made In U.S.A.

Great value BB comp with a generous 20 of their biggest hits from their golden period between 1962 - 1969. Excellent collection for the casual fan. Gold!

An excellent compilation album that sadly was never released in America but was released in Canada. Very odd.

Please check whether this version is similar or not to 20 Golden Greats, because they are both French with same distribution code. Maybe the Matrix/Runout differ.

When did this re-release come out in Germany really like the use of the rainbow labels, should have been in red or yellow vinyl. IMHO

Have the tracks been re-mastered into true stereo mixes or are they still the authorized by EMI, vile duo-mono phonic mixes. IE is this a waste of Euros and only for the must-have everything/label freeks? The only really REALLY excellent thing about this album is it's sleeve artwork by Terry Pastor, awww and the first run blue vinyl UK pressings.

Note the target logo on the rear, this was also used on the UK teaser-tie in single picture cover Good Vibrations c/w Wouldn't It be Nice (both presented in duophonic mono yet with a YCL matrix oh well! the labels are not the red and yellow/orange target design, but the silly salmon pink and bottom green cut off label text the link being the text script).
