The Beach Boys – Little Deuce Coupe

my copy of this version of little deuce coupe doesn't have the golden record award emblem on the front. but has the red capitol label. the serial number matches both the label and outer sleeve. the record is very good plus (VG+) no skips and doesn't affect play.

I took a chance on this label variant because I really wanted a mint copy of this album. It was still sealed, I opened it and immediately noticed a bunch of dimples in the vinyl. I cleaned it, and it played through fine, but the sound quality was really subpar. I got it for a good price, but I should have waited for the orange or purple label represses.

After buying the Pet Sounds AP mono reissue, I was so impressed by the sound that I had to get some other releases by AP. Little Deuce Coupe was one I hesitated on, as it's certainly not my favorite BB album thanks to the amount of reused tracks, however I'm glad I bought it.

The reused songs sound as great as they do on other AP releases, however the original tracks shine the most. Spirit of America and A Young Man is Gone are absolutely stunning on this pressing, and are worth the price of admission alone

PLEASE NOTE: My star rating does not indicate the quality of the album, but the quality of the pressing - This pressing is outstanding. It blows even the original mono out of the water IMO. When it comes to pre-Pet Sounds recordings, I'll almost always lean towards the mono release, but I picked this up in a lot with some other BB records. When playing this and my mono Little Deuce Coupe back-to-back, the stereo release felt much more dynamic and like a true rock n roll album. It's awesome and highly worth picking up. It's now my go-to listen of the album.

How do we know that this is a 1965 release and not the British 1963 one?

Great album to have in your collection from one of the best bands in music history.

Again. Green label Beach Boys releases deserve every bit of love that they get. All mastered from the original tapes and done so well. These are my go to versions. Dynamic with so much detail. And they can often still be had for cheap.

My copy has KT tax code. It has matrix ST1 1998-A8 M 1 on side one and ST2 1998-A7 H 1 on side two.

Simply the best pressing of this album ever. The Beach Boys reissues from AP are incredible. These mono pressings of the early BB catalog are really special and it’s a delight to have them the way Brian intended. Get ‘em before they’re gone!
