Mark Ronson – Uptown Special

How can this be so expensive. This must be one of the baddest sounding albums produced ever.
No volume, no dynamics.
Not worth the money

Lol.. this album Sucks.. good thing he didn't have to compete against Prince, Michael, kool & the Gang, Morris Day, Cameo, Zapp & Rodger, Rick James and All the Groups from the 70's & 80's..

My 2015 Yellow European vinyl pressing sounds absolutely crap. No punch, no volume whatsoever.
I have to crank up the gain on the mixer to full.

I had high hopes for this album since i'm a fan of Mark Ronson's productions, but the overall feeling i'm left with while listening to each track is "meh". It feels a little anemic and generic. It's not BAD by any means, but doesn't really have anything special to say for itself aside for "Uptown Funk" track that was unfortunately played to death.
3/5. It's actually a 2.5, but i'll round up.

Can anyone comment on the US RCA pressing (opaque) vs the European Columbia pressing (translucent) as far as sound characteristics are concerned ?

My copy came slightly warped - it was playable but seemed to contain some distortion. It's a pressing from Italy, it says on the box and it's yellow is slightly transparant. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I love the album though.

Picked up another copy, the yellow vinyl-version only. The yellow on that one is totally opaque and it's dead quiet: no noise, no distortions, nothing.

Great album, the lyrics tell a story, the music is a journey. Good production and works well as a 'whole album' listen. There is some massive bass here and there as well. A grown up Mark Ronson L.P.

From the cellophane to the music, everything about Uptown special is great. Firstly, the the album art, while simplistic, looks nice. Second, the sleeve is a nice, firm cardboard (which isn't common amongst newly pressed records nowadays) with nice art on the front and back. The yellow vinyl and label really pop and the album itself is semi transparent. Now, the music. The music itself is very well cut presenting no pops or random noise and also has very decent highs and lows (again, uncommon for recent pressings). All and all, I'd give this press a 4.5/5 and would recommend it highly.

Does anyone know how I can get an edited version of "Feel Right" on vinyl. I think the song is truly a better song edited in the chorus....thanks!!!
