Probably the worst-sounding record in my collection. Full of pops and crackles, skipped multiple times, incredibly noisy. Sounded worse right out of the wrapping than my parents' overused, scuffed-up records from the 70s. Reading the other reviews makes me think it might've just been my copy, but I'm a little pissed. Would be more pissed if I didn't get it for pretty cheap. At least it looks cool, maybe I'll hang it up on my wall.

My copy sounds great! I have an early 70s press for comparison, prob a 1971 press and this sounds a bit better, higher highs and a bit more dynamic, its flat and dead quiet. My dead wax has “nrp” etched which is prob Nashville record production and I have the same hype stickers on cover, there is absolutely nothing on my copy that would lead me to believe its from Europe. Anyways this is a wonderful copy, great buy for $24
Be aware the original albums production is very muddy due to Sly recording and rerecording over the tapes again and again during the original sessions

Very cool and hip that I own the first pressing of this as it's being reevaluated. Hope gen z gets on the sly train soon

My copy is pretty great. Artwork is clear, vinyl is super thick primary red (couple tiny black flecks but that’s okay), almost perfectly flat, sounds good. For about $20, great deal.

              Comparison time:

2013 Music On Vinyl - beautiful pressing genuinely as perceptibly quiet as any Supervinyl or UHQR overpriced hype records. Very good mastering, thick warm and sounds analogue even if it aint. Maybe a little rolled off and lacks abit in soundstage. Very easy to listen too and enjoy.

2018 Sundazed KPG cut red vinyl - good quality RTI pressing if not as silent as the Record Industry job for MOV. Looks great though and is quiet enough for sure. Mastering wise it is a step up from the MOV issue having more clarity, bettee stage depth and especially width. The extra clarity means the occasional vocal hotness is more pronounced but it stops short of being harsh.

2021 Epic/Sony ltd ed red vinyl - the wordt of the bunch. Sounds a little flatter and thinner than the MOV. Its not harsh and doesnt do too much wrong. Its just not as natural i guess. Certainly very different to the KPG cut. The vinyl is also not as quiet as the MOV but is on par with the Sundazed. However two copies ive tried both exhibit some warp and off centre'dness with some scuffing from the card printed inner.

All records were Degritted heavily before playback and played on the same vintage Pioneer PL-51 dd with Shure M75 nude elliptical.

              Conclusion:
              1st - KPG Sundazed red
              2nd - MOV regular black
3rd - Epic red ltd ed

This pressing and mastering are stellar. Blows away my US original and MOV reissue. The muddiness is almost gone on this one.

Lovely copy. Nice with the translucent red which seems to go with the foreboding, underlying anger Sly had at this point in his career. There is less of the pop-centricity here than in earlier S&TFS releases, going more toward bass-riddled funk and social justice outcries. Perhaps Sly's last great efforts, and this pressing gives it good due delivering an enjoyable sound stage with depth & separation. Uses the full spectrum of my kit - Rega RP3, Dynavector 10x5 w/P75 phono stage, Parasound HINT6, ATC SCM11 speakers. Funk on.
