Notes
Originally released on November 3, 1992 by Epic Records.
The band released their demo also Rage Against The Machine, 11 months prior which contained earlier recordings of 7 out of 12 songs found on this album.
With politically themed lyrical content, the album artwork was notable for featuring a graphic photograph of Thích Quảng Đức committing self-immolation. Rage Against the Machine was a critical success upon release with several critics noting the album's politically motivated agenda as well as de la Rocha's strong delivery.
Rated number 24 on the Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time", the album peaked at number 1 on the US Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 45 on the US Billboard 200 and has gone on to achieve triple platinum sales certification in the US and produced four singles:
"Killing In The Name"
"Bullet In The Head"
"Bombtrack"
"Freedom"
The band announced on October 9, 2012, via their Facebook page that they would be releasing a special 20th anniversary boxset to commemorate the group's debut album. The boxset contains never-before-released concert material, including the band's 2010 Finsbury Park show and footage from early in their career, as well as a digitally-remastered version of the album, B-sides and the original Rage Against The Machine demo tape (on CD for the first time). The collection was released on November 27, 2012.

- For precision on prints (inner sleeve) and diff. details on runouts added 1st "RL" release now as a seperate entry Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine

Great remastering by Stephen Marsh and Steve Hoffman! More detail, more stage and a little more punch make this SACD sound more suitable for modern hi-fi systems.- Cleaned it on a wet cleaner before playing. imho... buy it, clean it, play it LOUD.
Yes everyone would love an original US pressing, but don't be silly this is 170$ today and this is more than adequate.
Some surface noise+ "super minor"compression in places. - I sampled a little of this and it sounds fine. Pretty rough compared to the MOV version of Evil Empire that used the OG stampers but a fine pressing. Wish the MOV OG stampers version of this wasnt so hard to get ahold of.

Apparently the first variant: It is the one that comes with the two stickers on the cover (Parental advisory sticker and B&W sticker) AL-52959-1B² MASTERDISK
BL-52959-1B MASTERDISK
The second variant of the album is the one that comes "only with the B&W sticker with better material quality... but NOT with the Parental Advisory sticker, plus the numbers "1-1" are almost imperceptible, but they are there) AL-52959-1B MASTERDISK 1-1
BL-52959-1B MASTERDISK
Finally, I don't have the third variant yet, I hope that someone who does have it can give more information about the details that differentiate it from the first two editions; By the way, all 3 VARIANTS were pressed simultaneously in 1992, so if you own any of the 3, feel lucky, buddy!referencing Rage Against The Machine (LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Stereo, 180g) 88875111751
Sound quality of the repress is AMAZING. Mine is the 5A/5B variant but its clean, dynamic, full and it slaps. It is however slightly pringled, slightly off centre and has a few pops on track 2 from a tiny blemish. It still plays 95% perfectly typical of most MOV/Record Industry presses.- RATM at their finest here! Uncomparable sound, unmistakeable message. Back to the days in which power was something to fight against not to compromise with.
- This record kicks you right in the gut. Big from start to finish. Side B starts to get a little flat but other than that the record is phenomenal because of the price AND the fact they put it all on one LP.
I’m actually very happy with this record. - I have this one and the 2009 MOV. While the 2009 MOV sounds fine and was made with the original US plates, this 92 European one sounds significantly better.

I get it. I get the hype.
I have so many rock records I barely play because they're just a bundle of indistinguishable fuzz.
On this however, I can hear every individual instrument, which makes their sound hit that much harder. Coupled with how hard Rage's music goes in general, it really makes for a visceral rock 'n roll experience.
I wish this theme had continued in rock music mixing/mastering, but at least we have this.
And just a tip; the MASTERDISK in the runout is VERY faint. You'll have to clean the fingerprints off and hope there aren't too many hairline scuffs.
And it seems like the bootlegs were copied from the reissue, so look at the inner sleeve for the copyright year (should only be "1992", not "1992, 2008" or some such.
The Parental Advisory label in the bottom right is an actual sticker on the cardboard jacket.
Usually counterfeiters won't bother with stickers and will just print it.
And takes clues from the jacket itself. 30 year old paper should look yellowed and smell stale.
