The Jeff Beck Group* – Beck-Ola

Wow this is so cool.

There are a LOT of extra tracks here, one bonus 7 minute track on side A !! And another bonus track on side B , followed by two early studio cuts of tracks on the album. Really great and such a surprise to see 4 extra tracks here. Essentially making the album longer by adding 2 outtakes on each side.

Anyone know who mastered this? I don’t see any information

My testing when comparing this to a VG+ OG US press is that this repress is more clean, dynamic, punchy and affordable

I have no other copy to compare, but it's a punchy and muddy sounding record. Very "rock" or "garage rock" effect. Otherwise it's a dead silent pressing

I've been reliably informed that this is from the same metal parts as the 1969 Columbia records Beckola LP, so I got myself a copy and am very happy indeed with it! And seeing the other comments here, this would explain the great sq too. :)

I don't know what others are smokin' but this album does.
Yes,
it's Rod 'every-beat-of-my-heart' Stewart singing.
But it is done with more err, aplomb,
than some of his solo MTV era choons.
Does that not mean he's more diverse a singer than the obvious gives him credit for ?
As for the band,
they knock it out the park.
What's not to like ??

After the incredible Truth, it would be fair to expect another great album from the Beck, Stewart, & Wood group. Beck-Ola is not great. Its marginally OK. Definitely a few strong performances but overall unfocused & unfinished. It sounds like they recorded their first rehearsal for the album and just said, "That's good enough." Disappointing.

This seems to be very treble leaning and spiky but if you adjust it sounds very good.

I had this for years and forgot about it until today; then I realised it was a re-issue copy of Beckola which I only recently bought as I never had a copy. So I played them back to back and blow me it's a better recording than the original!

I had a copy of this - the music sounded flat and dead as though it had been heavily EQ'ed or NR'ed.
