Can’t believe that side B is listenable this time around. Finally got rid of my original pressing and grabbed this. The Only Thing has such sentimental meaning to me and to finally have it on vinyl in listenable quality…it’s indescribable.

My copy is definitely a little bit warped, but sounds great.

My copy sounds amazing! No clicks, pops or warp. Good dynamic. Pretty heavy for a non 180gr.

Hadn’t listened to this since I upgraded from a crosley I got in high school 10 years ago, thought maybe I’d wrecked it with the subpar player. Happy to learn it’s the pressing that sounds terrible on my new system, disappointed to learn that this is pretty common for this pressing. Is there a better alternative out there? It’s unlistenable in this state.

A few pops and clicks here and there, but overall really nice. I think a lot what what people will say is noise is inherent in the recordings, as mentioned by a Reddit comment from Asthmatic Kitty. Given that this is generally a quieter album, and one that wasn't recorded in the highest fidelity to begin with, I don't think this will ever be perfect unless it's pressed on something like Supervinyl or Clarity Vinyl (a neat idea, but ultimately unrealistic).

The most important thing to me is that the music sounds good, and aside from a small amount of noise, it's pressed pretty well. It's a definite improvement over the initial pressings and I'm very happy to have this in my collection.

This cassette sounds really good. Mastering is great and it's a lovely tape i like to listen to at night. Highly recommended.

Just adding this for balance. There are good copies of this (and therefore I hope of the black version too which is cheaper) - the clear copy I got upon release has a pretty much silent background, just the odd very faint crackle like you'd expect from any disc. It's a quiet, acoustic album so I appreciate that any noise would be pretty invasive. The only issue I have is one singular very brief burst of non-fill on A1. I've never heard a digital copy but this is a rich and warm sounding pressing to my ears. Maybe the good ones aren't so common but it's still worth trying to find one, whichever colour it is!

Very noisy. My copy has an almost constant static noise on side a. Cant be ignored due to the mellow nature of album. Side b is better.
