The Beatles – The Early Beatles

I’ve been a snob about "fold-down" mixes for years. Always dismissed them as cheap and inauthentic. But I grabbed this used and gave it a shot. Wow. When done well, fold-downs ain’t bad after all. I guess it’s all about the quality of the source tape and the work of the mastering engineer. Shocked at the powerful sound, clear vocals and crisp backing tracks. I suggest grabbing one of these.

-Dead quiet vinyl, with no pops, cracks or noise inbetween tracks.

-Record came in a poly-lined inner sleeve and I did not even have to clean it before playing it.

-Great mastering and sound quality - even if it’s not UK Beatles, it’s a great “alternative” sound and it was carefully mastered using a AAA process.

-In the end, this does not feel like a cash grab at all. For its price and quality, it’s more than a welcome addition in your collection - especially if you were always curious about how the Capitol mixes sounded, or if you are looking for “cheap”early Beatles on Mono (and would like dead-quiet, new records) without breaking the bank for the Mono UK pressings released last decade.

**Beware this is a hot pressing, so if you have a misaligned cartridge it might jump around/skip. But it played wonderfully on my AT VM95ML, so before blaming the pressing quality make sure yout setup is correctly configured**

Sounds great, but most of this material leaves me cold, sounds like an amateur outfit. But of course the great songs sound even greater in this dynamic fidelity, thats the saving grace.

Sounds fantastic. My copy was clean and silent out of the sleeve. I’ve seen some postings about skipping - maybe caused by how hot this is cut. If so, Anti-skating may need adjustment on some tone arms.

except for love me do, this one sounds pretty impressive for an early 70s reissue. the stereo mixes for some of the tracks, especially the rockers, make them shine in a very pleasant way.

Does it skip like crazy when it plays ? My copy skips a lot.

unlike the other USA capital albums that vary up the track listings, Everything from this album is taken from the please please me album with the exclusion of a few tracks such as the essential (I saw her standing there) or (From me to you)

Man..this one sounds fantastic. Punchy and cut super loud and hot. Sound really good y’all. Deep grooves. Once you dig the dirt out..wow

The fact this is drenched in reverb by Dave Dexter Jr. makes it sound like you're listening to it in the toilet. Please Please Me from anywhere else in the world sounds better but if you're determined to have an American record, Introducing The Beatles by VeeJay is far superior.

Is it just me, or does this whole record run too fast? I had read something about this being an issue on a couple of 70s Japanese reissues, and I'm not sure if its just the power of suggestion, or if it actually does.
