A fantastic pressing. Super clean, no noise, snaps, crackles or pops. The music is exceptional. A combination of Blues and American Folk Art. Many high points on this album. For classic blues there's B5 Willie Brown Blues. For an American Folk feel try A3 Cotton Needs Pickin'. But the best is Cooder killing the guitar on B3 Feelin' Bad Blues. You can feel the pain. Solid movie, great soundtrack.
Most of the tracks have that slick 1980s production to them which really kills the natural feeling of the blues, but many of these tracks bring up evocative memories of the movie, so it's one I have in my collection. That being said, there isn't anything terrible here. Production aside, the vocal performances are quite solid. And the instrumental that ends the album (Cooder and Terry playing together) is so deep and profound. It's great slide-blues guitar.
Mine has the original (WME) Matrix / Runout, but the Label Code is LC 0392 instead of LC 00392 both on the cover and the CD. The Mould SID Code is IFPI 0537
I think Warner Bros missed the bus when they put this together, I rushed out to buy mine as soon as it was available (after seeing the movie) and although I like what is on there I was bitterly disappointed that the duel wasn't on this album. Hence just 4 stars from me.
