Mono – Formica Blues

Is this essentially the same as the 2021 MOV pressing only this is 180g yellow vinyl whereas the 2021 MOV pressing is 180g black vinyl?

One of *the* classic trip-hop albums with immaculate production, songwriting, and vocal performances. I listened to the original 1997 CD release countless times back in the late 1990s, and was excited to hear about the MOV re-release. Usually I'm not a fan of records in any colour but black, but this one sounds great and I did not hear a single crackle or click - a rarity for new pressings these days. It's also nice to finally see the cover with its very late-90s style artwork in LP-size format. The only point of criticism I have to express is that this re-release would have been a good opportunity to put all the artwork from the original CD version's booklet (including the quote "vivo peusando, peusando por dias sem fim") on the inlay of the LP, but then, it wasn't included on the original LP version either, so at least this is a pretty historically accurate re-edition.

MOV are one of the only labels who make reissues that actually cure my need for an original. This is such a top quality release, from the textured jacket to the insert and sleeve to the stellar pressing. Sounds absolutely beautiful with no noise and clear deep playback. And what an awesome album, deserves to be better remembered as one of the highlights of trip hop’s golden era.

Pointless, except for making this album available on file format, obviously... Compared to the 1998 2xCD issue, the four instrumentals aside (which are a nice addition), only one remix has been added. More worthwhile additions would have been the 1998 remixes of "Life in Mono" (by Banana Republic, Mr Natural and Lhooq), and perhaps also the sole track by Mono released elsewhere, "Madhouse" on the 1998 'Psycho' soundtrack. Also, this type of 'anniversary' release usually includes something new or exclusive, so why not all new remixes?

One of my most wanted vinyl re-presses and this does not disappoint. Wonderful quiet and dynamic pressing. Would love some more trip hop albums from MOV and both Violet Indianna albums. (Siobhan De Mare's other band from the 2000's) Also if anyone who loves this album is not aware, Siobhan released a new album under the band name Swoone a couple of years ago which is a nice modern trip hop album.

So happy with this repress... I bought once a very good copy but it was bad. Too much noise. Thank you for this repress - such an awesome album !! Get this when you like triphop ... a must-have !!!

I didn’t hesitate to buy this as soon as I saw it was coming out. How I longed for this to be repressed and my wishes were answered. Always magical to fall in love with an album again. Highly recommend.

As others have commented this is yet another stellar release by MOV. Great range, flat vinyl nice presentation etc. would recommend for sure. Always wanted this album on vinyl! Now hopefully they do a release for Supreme Beings of Leisure
