The Steve Miller Band* – Book Of Dreams

One of my all time favourite albums. Brought this just before my 17th birthday in 1977. Lots of crackles on it but still sounds so good and packed full of good songs.

This version does has the 2 extra songs that are Missing on the Capitol 4N version of this reissue ("True Fine Love" & "My Own Way").

Really great album. Being a casual fan I didn’t expect to know most of the songs on this album. It sounded nice as well.

The songs for BOOK OF DREAMS and FLY LIKE AN EAGLE were recorded during the same sessions, and both were best-selling albums for the band. "The Stake" is a personal favorite, and the whole album has a great flow. This pressing sounds just fine, with a suitably fat sounding low end and nice crisp highs. My copy is in nice shape, with very light surface noise on occasion.

I've seen where some copies of the Book Of Dreams picture disc LP have stickers warning that the sound quality may be crappy. Ain't that the truth! I recently bought a sealed copy of the picture disc and it was extremely crackly, ticky and clicky on first play even after cleaning. I suppose these records were intended more for hanging on a wall than hanging out on a turntable.

I have just the outer and inner sleeves of this in good condition if anyone is looking.

One of "Crapitol's" better pressings. I was wondering if "Nami" refers to higher grade polymers used because this pressing has that multi-color groove sheen I associate with audiophile quality pressings. This copy even has some damage but plays fine - another thing I associate with this sheen.

Does anyone know what makes this a nami pressing vs the Jacksonville pressing? Both labels look the exact same. And so do the covers.

I am curious why there has not been a listing for the new colored vinyl variant of Book of Dreams. I have seen two different pictures floating around as to what the color would be. One shows the LP to be somewhat of a wine color and the other shows it to be more of a bronze color. I was curious as to what the vinyl actually looked like.
