Starship (2) – Knee Deep In The Hoopla

This release (as well as the six others) were honestly, a fantastic and underappreciated idea. You get the bonuses of digital audio (that of CD fidelity) and video for those music videos that may not be easily available in good quality (or sometimes, even available at all anywhere else.) You also get the alternate versions of tracks that were made for the music video (or it may be the same as the album version, it's all dependent on the music video) and the entire album, unedited.

It's a fantastic little package for those that enjoy this album, as the video quality on the music videos is quite solid, especially for 1986. The picture quality for the still image of the album cover leaves something to be desired, but being that that's not your sole focus at that point it can be excused.

To add onto it, the audio quality on the whole disc is great. There's a little bit of difference in this and the original US CD master (this version sounds a tad clearer), but it's nothing game changing. To be completely fair, you won't even notice unless you rip the audio from the digital tracks directly.

Overall, a very neat release, and recommended if you have a LaserDisc player and are a fan of this album, especially due to the inclusions of the music videos for Sara and We Built This City.

Got this in April 2021, played through again and it sounds great! Warmth, depth of soundstage, and detailed musical sound.
