This is definitely the best version of "Funk-U-Up" compared to the later releases which either contain remixes of the title track or are missing some of the versions present here. There was a later Trax Records reissue, but the sound quality of that pressing varies from okay to complete rubbish. This pressing is clean and the volume output is excellent.

The 'Bonus Beats' were used by Chicago's very own Ron Hardy (R.I.P.) who would play Rudy Ray Moore & The Madam's "The Sensuous Black Woman Meets The Sensuous Black Man" over the drum beats to essentially create his own track. It was later emulated and released as Jackmaster Dick's "Sensuous Woman Goes Disco".

Kind of tough to find out in the wild, so pick up on sight!

This is an amazing record and truely deserves the 5/5 rating to date. The production levels of this track are far superior to Jes-say records first release of On & On which is a simple merging of Z Factor-Fantasy drum pattern and baselines and the earlier release of Mach-On & On.

The production on this is also far better than the poor remixes which again seemed to be rushed and simply patched together. All 4 tracks on this release are very strong and have their place in early house mixes. Im lucky enough to have 2 copies of this release and treasure them both although they do get use when I am messing around remixing in the early 84 style.

If this is not on yor wants list then your missing out. Dont try and purchase outside of Chicago as numbers seem to be very limited as was distrubtion.
