It's surprising how many great albums have gone unreleased in the last 20-30 years. On the contrary, some are published almost every year. Yusuf's work, especially from the time of Impulse, is an example of the first named group. Fortunately, Elemental and Jordi Soley bring two of his fantastic works in a worthy rendition. Rollins' Alfie or Shepp's Four for Trane are a piece of cake from Elemental. The gatefold is similar to the ones mentioned, thin in digi pack style, but with a creamy, warm shade and a pleasantly velvety surface. Nice. Yusuf perceives and performs music as a source of inspiration from multiple cultures. Its multi-instrumental equipment makes the result refreshing, musical and timeless. I really like his bluesy, psychadelic compositions, not only on this album. I don't think he needs similarly able-bodied cats on his albums, but here too he gives them enough space, which raises the quality of the live music. The rhythm section is perfect even in complicated changes of the rhythmic structure. The sound is dynamic, detailed and natural. MPO pressing is very quiet, it only scratches a few times at the end of the first page. If it weren't for the bad labeling of the sides on the label and the slight off-center pressing of the B side, this would be a near-perfect release. Highly recommended.

all-time great live jazz album, can be got for not a lot considering it's cultural value

It’s a great album. The order of the songs is definitely wrong on the labels. Sister Mamie opens side 2. You can hear it perfectly when Lateef announces it.

Flawless pressing, my copy plays without any clicks or pops. This is very pleasant since the music on this live recording has some silent parts in it. I guess this edition is sourced from a digital file, as if this was from the original master tapes, they would tell us on the hype sticker - which they don't. Nevertheless, it sounds great with good dynamics.

Commenting on THC_Records: my copy has the labels correctly on each side.

Superb session and the pressing sounds great. On-body labels are applied wrongly at least on my copy though, they should have been the other way around. Doesn’t take from the fact that this is a fantastic LP :)

Nice and loud LP, fun and different. Just diving into Yusef, glad I found this for cheap at a local store

This is one of the coolest, hippest jazz albums. The opening cut is killer.

Super swinging album. Beautiful Van Gelder mono production. Sister Mamie is just a wicked slice of Eastern tinged dance freak out jazz while the b side is a beautiful affair with The Weaver being ever so tasty. Swing baby swing! Catch me.

For sure one of my favorite live jazz albums ever recorded. Overton Berry is another that comes to mind and that Lobraro 2 by Tapscott.
Sister Mamie is a monster. If you have never had the opportunity to hear it, it's your lucky day. The full lp is great and there is a Part 2 called Club date that is equally great. Jazz musicians often talk about a certain audience that makes things magical and this is one of em in Philly.
