Reviews
- This EP contains four mixes of Severed Heads' goofy synth pop mixed into catchy house anthems for the clubs and home listening. Only snippets of vocals pop up here and there. The focus is on the bass and the beat. And it's a great record.
If the levels are a tweak lower than some records, it's because the full dynamics are intact. The vinyl is low on noise and at the right levels has pleasing heft and warmth.
While I've never been a huge fan of "Greater Reward," these two mixes provide solid listening, highlighting the best parts of the original. The Crash Dub of "Big Car" is probably the best version of the track for me. Silly, catchy, and driven by a groovy bassline, it's a fine listen.
For me, the finest track in this compilation is the Dub of "All Saints Day." Unique and catchy, it will stand out in a mix. Not a note is wasted; it is lean and mean. And the cut here is flattering, the sound rich. - Not the best pressing. Found it to be quite low but still playable. Shame really as this kicks as an edit. Hopefully a repress will be louder.
