- Beaware B&C/Trojan/Creole/Harry J/Horse/Cactus etc etc etc etc notorious for pointless mono pressings
For some reason Trojan were the Reggae version of UK Bell very mono and for no reason!
The whole catalogue needs to be looked at at those that were multi's etc should be put out in STEREO
I cite Desmond Dekker Israelites 1970s EMI-Cactus retro release first UK Stereo release! Maytaiiles Monkey Man 1970's EMI-Island retro EP release STEREO ! Whats the crack?
Do not believe any STEREO text on any Maxi Trojan labels its's there as a con and joke and not reality
Most of these 10/11 maxi singles are vile needle drop and 2-3-4 generation masters with awful EQ and sonics
Beaware! Worst two are Harry J All Stars The Liqudator alll and I mean all pressings of this album or 7" are vile and compressed etc ONLY the original 1st Harry J label 1968 contracted pressings Orlake or Phonogram (Philips) have the right original sonics (mono sadly, whats that all about an instrumental 100% always mono........why?) And Dave (Barker) & Ansil Cillins Double Barrel (sounds like an off AM/MW radio recording and is just vile) Only the Standard one of the Trojan Incestuous family label (to hide tax and MCPS fees) Techniques 7" original contract pressing (most were Orlake) has the crisp clear bright non distorted recording with non compressed/tweaked messed up bass.
It is very frustrating and so pointless that over and over and over again the same old poor needle drop and later generation re tweaked and EQ'd tapes used, and always 99.9% mono regardless of the labels text statements otherwise! B&C/Island probs were simple too many fingers too many pies, too many chiefs, to many know-f***k all's interfering a total sham and constant bodge and money going where it should not have gone.
