Notes
Re-issues of Bad feature a number of changes when compared to the original 1987 release:
"Bad" – The original mix was replaced with the 7" Single Mix. The most notable difference is the lack of horns in all the choruses except for the last two. Horns are also missing from the second and third pre-choruses. The rhythm guitar during the choruses is also turned up along with the hi hats.
"The Way You Make Me Feel" – The full length remix used for the single with louder vocals and ad libs added to the end replaced the original album mix.
"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" omits Michael Jackson's spoken intro.
"Dirty Diana" is replaced with the single edit of the song.
"Smooth Criminal" went through two changes on the album. It was remixed to make the kick drum heavier and the bass synth fatter. The quick-sequenced synclavier behind the bass has been rendered mono as well. The first version of this mix left the breathing intact, but was later removed after some time.

Great pressing of a perfect album. Stereo image is wide and detailed. Bass is strong but never too much and vocals nice and clear.

This version was pressed with some seriously great vinyl and sounds excellent! If you haven't yet heard the album's original mix, check it out with a copy like this.

I really don't understand why this RP sound very bad between the original press, yes you will have more content but the sound it's definitely under the original UE pressure that i have. Very Disappointed. I think Bad is the one of the best record sounding ever. I love it so much. Thriller, Bad and Dangerous are deffenitly the holy grail of music.

Sounds absolutely stunning! I picked this up because I’ve heard great things about the first issue. The bass on this it absolutely thrilling! I honestly couldn’t believe it! I know there were a lot of copies of those pressed but at some point in the future this will be a very sought after album. Years from now all the master tables will be rotten and disintegrated. And people will realize that digital music is throwaway crap. And for CDs… well nobody cares about a CD right lol
Dude below is full of shit. While there is some typical surface noice this pressing rocks. It is dynamic and truly an audiophile quality issue.

I have this version but there is a fold-out Pepsi sponsored tour poster and concert ticket coupons and exclusive T-shirt offer inside with the UK tour dates from 14th July - 23rd July 1988.
Not sure if this is a different version of the existing UK one similar to the Swedish pepsi one?

I picked up this longbox copy of BAD: DIDP 70643 21B8 ( Variation 4) and discovered that there were no edits or omissions from the edited tracks commonly discussed in forums ( The missing horns in Bad, The missing spoken intro in ICSLY, The missing heavy breathing in Smooth Criminal, The missing "Dirty Diana" vocal fade out in that song.) For whatever reason this long box re-issue escaped all the edits that happened after, and shortly after, the original release came out. I noticed all the Original releases were manufactured in Los Angeles as indicated on the back covers and inserts. This long box version though was manufactured in New York and maybe because of this, retained the original edits and mix of BAD.
If someone is seeking an original unedited version of Bad, they should LOOK FOR THE MANUFACTRED IN NEW YORK on the inserts and Back cover of the CD and not worry about "old" or "new" Epic logos on the CD. You can find the originals made in Los Angeles with the Old Epic logo but it is still a gamble if you will get an unedited release As most know these edits were done quietly without any way of telling from the outside packaging until the new epic logo was introduced. With this version you can be sure of what you are getting. I got lucky finding this reissue.
Bottom line....Look for Manufactured in NEW YORK instead of Los Angeles on the back of the CD case. Ignore everything else.

Can anybody else confirm audible static at the beg of some tracks… end of part of me into intro of man in mirror, can’t stop loving you, Liberian girl. The static doesn’t last long but is prominent.

This 4 disc Deluxe Edition of 'Bad 25' is very nice, but could be MUCH BETTER. In addition to what's already included (The 2 AWESOME booklets, 3 CDs, Live DVD, poster, sticker), Sony/Legacy SHOULD’VE included a CD featuring ALL of the RARE 12" Extended Mixes of Bad's singles (IMO, the Afrojack, Pittbull, and Nero mixes are a waste of space...LOL!). The Bonus Material CD is great, but Sony failed to include the demo 'Cheater', which was originally recorded during the 'Bad' sessions, and it appeared on MJ's 'Ultimate Collection' box set back in 2004.
While I'm pleased with this box set, I decided to make it EXTRA SPECIAL by including the 'Bad:Remixes' CD, plus the 'Moonwalker' & 'Bad Short Films' (only included in exclusive editions of 'Bad 25' sold at Target!) DVDs...they fit PERFECTLY to create a 7 Disc BAD BOX. 5 Stars!
