What a production from Creed Taylor! A stellar cast, the best ever version of Stevie’s “Pastime Paradise”. Some killer percussion, a wall of Ray, Tito and Willie Torres. Wonderful stuff and a real highlight for me back in ‘81…

I concur with everything Expansive09 said. I would just add that the version of Stevie Wonder's Pastime Paradise is also a delight, and only adds to the overall record's worthiness of your hard earned dollars. Nice latter day Creed Taylor production.

Magnificent Latin infused jazz. Not really trad. latin jazz, not syrupy laden soft jazz either. Worth owning just for the "caravanesque" track Doloroso which is a smooth percussive laden moody cinematic chugging composition lead by the soprano sax and augmented by nice background synths(courtesy of Spyro Gryra's Jeremy Wall nonetheless) and Rhodes electric piano. Mambotango kicks all into gear with more down and dirty Latin grooves again focusing on tenor sax infusing the melodic statement with synth strings and Rays congas providing juicy percussive support. All in all an unspoken gem of a Latin jazz release from 1981.
