The Chemical Brothers – Born In The Echoes

Some hate for this album because it doesn't sound just like their earlier work. Oh dear oh dear. Brilliant album! For those who just know. Not for those who think they know.

I really like Tom's version of Wide Open. Shame about the album!

Fun fact: Taste Of Honey uses elements of their track This Is Not A Game from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).

As much as I love The Chemical Brothers, I find "Born in the Echoes" to be their weakest album.

The first track, "Sometimes I Feel So Deserted" sorta drags. It's not bad. But it's a 3/5 for me. "Go" is an improvement. But I prefer "Under Neon Lights". I like the acoustic drumming in "I'll See You There".

"Just Bang" is not only the worst track, but one of the Brothers' worst work as well. Mostly just random banging sounds. I think it would have been better if they made it a shorter track.

"Reflexion" is another track that drags. Though I do find the beat somewhat catchy.

"Taste Of Honey" is a short and interesting track with sound effects of a bee. The sound they used in that track. They also used it for a song they made for The Hunger Games.

The only track in "Born in the Echoes" I give an A+ to is "Wide Open". Well made song. Well produced. Best track on the album!

Overall, this album is a C+ for me.

It's a shame that people don't really care for this album. Personally, I've been a fan of their more melodic tunes and this Album has multiple tracks that just hit you right in the feels. I haven't had any issues with my copy. All 4 sides sound crisp. Good stuff.

Vinyl is very, very heavy. Probably the heaviest records I've come across. They sound great but side C had gunk actually pressed into the vinyl. It initially wouldn't play through and skipped. I carefully scraped it off with my fingernail and cleaned it several times. There is a small divet in the vinyl where the dirt had been pressed into it but I was able to get it to play and do not notice any skipping now. I was happy to get this to play through, but geez, what's up with quality control these days?

I was also really surprised with this album. Their worst work ever. Pity they diverted so much from their original style.
