Donna Summer – She Works Hard For The Money

Another pathetic, lightweight digital reissue that wasn’t even offered on CD or vinyl. I can think of over a dozen bonus tracks that should have/could have been included on this so-called “expanded” edition… and that’s before including the instrumentals.

Unfortunately, Universal holds the lion’s share of Donna’s hit-making years, and clearly, not a single person working at the label has a clue how to market and present her material in a complete and respectful way. Just slap a pink border around the album cover and call it day. Even the cover art wasn’t properly restored. What a shame…

And udiscovermusic.com reads more like a historical newsfeed than it does in presenting anything of new or significant value. While it’s great to acknowledge the past, what the site really shows, is just how little it cares about the artists that helped build its legacy.

there are some small differences to the original released versions: the "club mix" of "she works..." is about 12 seconds longer ...but has the same fade out ending. the "instrumental version" of "she works..." is a slighty different version as the version released in the u.k. ( first additional keyboard at 0:12 min ). sadly this digital "deluxe edition" don't contain the unedited 7'' version of "stop, look and listen" ( 4:24 min. ) and the 7'' single version of "love has a mind..." ( 3:50 min. ) and the longer outro of "i do believe..." ( 4:45 min. ) - released on the compilation "classic donna summer"

Pleasantly surprised with this release. I had heard bad things about this label but they are not true of this release.
Nicely packaged album that plays quietly with wonderful sound. Glad I added a copy to my collection.

What's going on with the labels on this issue? Just have a look at the track listings and the names for tracks, credits etc. Looks a total mess! No wonder people are suspicious of the intent of some of these reissuers and their lack of attention to detail - I know I am! Having said that, this is a really nice sounding slab of vinyl!

Collectors beware: products like these from Russia are most likely counterfeit releases burnt on CD-ROM, with laser printed booklets and inkjet-printed CD-ROM labels, spelling mistakes and cleverly "factory sealed". Maybe the poster can also upload images of the Russian release to prove my assumptions wrong?
