Sparks – Kimono My House

Yet another serviceable digital cut of this essential album on vinyl. Not as if the recording itself was audiophile-grade to begin with, but it would be nice to get some Sparks vinyl at least cut by top-tier engineers for once. Vintage Island pressings are definitely warmer and fuller sounding, but this should work for most listeners. 3.5/5. Listened on a Pro-Ject X2 w/Sumiko Wellfleet.

Mojo (362-Jan 2024) featured Sparks as that months "How to Buy" top ten as voted by Mojo readers, including this album. I love all of Sparks albums (some more than others of course) but was surprised at some of those that made the top ten.

Classic Sparks album. Essential early 70s weird pop. Three superb bonus tracks too. Lost And Found reminds me very much of Magazine circa The Correct Use Of Soap ! Similar standard and quality. Basically, essential to any music lovers collection. I usually play the vinyl but that’s purely because I associate the album with the vinyl so strongly - the CD sounds fine. But I don’t get that tingle with CDs that I get when I handle a big one 🤭

This pressing sounds fantastic. Just blows you away. One of the best and 'punchiest' bits of vinyl in my collection. Miles better than the CD, this is one of the top 10 albums to own on vinyl (along with 'Rumours', 'ghost in the machine', 'marquee moon' etc)

Beautiful packaging with the fully laminated sleeve and die cut card stock printed inner sleeve! The UK really did it right back in the day! The vinyl sounds just as good as my original USA press with a better bottom end here however they are both excellent and should be in any serious collection.

Essential to any collection. My copy sounds great, nice and quiet! Nice thick vinyl, no complaints here!

I have this same edition purchased in 2017, the matrix matches and everything. However, my center label has no "umc" logo stripe and it contained no download card. There might be another pressing not listed.

Does this come with a printed inner sleeve like the earlier issues?

Yeah this pressing is great. i imagine prices may soar when the new film is released so i highly recommend buying sooner rather than later.
