Pulp – This Is Hardcore

Had two copies over the years and both had a bit of surface noise here and there (second copy much better than the first), but what a lush pressing this is. The separation is great, with details and depth all present and correct. I've not heard the reissue and if it's like the We Love Life repress it might in fact sound very good, though as others have pointed out the artwork is a lot sharper on this version. It's one of the most vivid print jobs I've ever seen on an album, especially the gatefold, where Jarvis and his silk shirt are almost terrifyingly present.

I got a copy of this pressing, sealed, and opened it to find two A/B discs (no C/D.)
If anybody out there has an extra C/D (LP 2), I'd love to trade or something. Thanks!

I believe this is the release I have, purchased new at my local shop today. I was happy to hear the very end of Bar Italia plays before The Fear.

When I bought this from Amazon Deutschland, I was impressed by the packaging. But once I played the 2 records, I realized that this reissue is a travesty--one of the worst sounding records I've ever owned. Even my original 1973 US pressing of Iggy & The Stooges - Raw Power sounds better!
I had to return this one immediately!

Stunning sound quality, don't waste your time with later disgraceful reissues...this is the pressing to own!

this one sounds fairly well. i only have an original cd to compare it, but if you boost the bass and lower the treble, you get a punchy sound with some highlights on the synths and strings.

Just raising a doubt over the notes where is says the track is Tomorrow Never Dies (Rough Mix)...is that right? I thought it was the same track only it was called 'Tomorrow Never Dies (Rough Mix)' at the promo stage then called 'Tomorrow Never Lies' once released? (so the vinyl track list is in fact correct).

Does anyone know if this version has the locked groove after the end of “The Day After The Revolution” on Side C, as the 1998 original has?

A shockingly good MPO pressing. Flat, dead center on all 4 sides (compared to their usual 1-2 sides off center on a 2 record set). Very nice soundstage although side 1 is lower in volume compared to the other sides as it runs over 25 minutes. While the bonus tracks on side 4 are good, I'd much rather have the regular album spread out over 4 sides to help even out the sound quality. Though its been this way since the original release in 1998, the song This is Hardcore would be better served better as the start of side B rather than squashed on at the end of side 2. The same can be said about Seductive Barry too. MPO deserve their props when they do a good job and they certainly hit the mark here.
