UB40 – Signing Off

Superb reissue, agree with ultron500, disc 2 is a joy, rolled back the years, highly recommended

This is a worthy reissue, faithful to the original packaging elements with disk 2 sounding especially good! The red transparent vinyl looks great too. Get this before it's OOP.

Anyone know how this pressing sounds? I'm hoping they did a good job with this.

I have a 1st issue UK pressing that I bought when released. It sounds great. But my Simply Vinyl copy is appreciably better. Whoever did the mastering knew what they were doing. To me it sounds audiophile and ranks with some of the best of my (c.70) Mobile Fidelity/ Analogue Productions pressings. It has been one of my few reference records over the past 20 years. This is surprising as I have about a dozen Simply Vinyl LPs and generally find the mastering doesn’t rise above “quite good” - invariably my 1st issue UK pressings of the same titles sound better. But this SV pressing is in a different class and is one of the best sounding records I have. There are so many variables at play when listening to music, and it may be that I have a particularly good pressing, or that the mastering is particularly well suited to my particular (Linn/B&W) system, or to my particular ears. But I suspect that anyone listening on any serious system would appreciate this LP. A hidden gem.

Evocative, bleak at times, strident, upbeat, soulful, melodic, stark, and essential! So glad to have a near mint copy in my colelction, an absolute must.

Brian travers gave this to my uncle in Birmingham 1981 and I got it as a gift in 1988. The pressing is incredible and an absolute must to anybody with an ear for great music. Also, remember how young the lads were when making this.....in my opinion one of the best albums ever made.

Italian first pressing has no mention of free 12" on cover and has black labels ( like the uk press with no mention of lp title ). Glossy yellow paper cover , later have matte darker rough paper

Just bought a second hand copy of this classic. I agree with Freaksmeout - the pressing is one of the best sounding I have heard from that era.
