USA 1st / early pressings do not list Michael Jackson as a co-producer on the back cover under the "Produced by Quincy Jones..." credit (example: Thriller). Later pressings add "Co-Produced by Michael Jackson" (examples: Thriller and Thriller).
Every song of the LP, excluding "The Lady In My Life", either charted in the Billboard Top 100 or was issued as an A-side or B-side on 45 RPM singles. It was released on November 30, 1982 as the follow-up to Jackson's 1979 critically and highly commercially successful "Off The Wall" LP. "Thriller" explores similar genres to those that were heard on "Off the Wall" but redefined pop music, R&B, rock, post-disco, funk, and even adult contemporary music. It currently remains the largest grossing LP and represents the most copies ever sold of one LP worldwide, with sales over 65 million copies according to various sources.
Recording sessions took place between April and November 1982 at Westlake Studios in Los Angeles, California, with a production budget of $750,000, assisted by producer Quincy Jones.

Reviews
I've got a flat and silent copy. The sound is well balanced, not too bright, no distortion or issues tracking it with Rega Apheta 3 cartridge. I also have MOVLP014 (2009) copy which is louder and brighter, also a bit wider sound stage. Music on Vinyl version on some budget systems might sound more exciting.
My copy sounds fantastic, regardless of being a picture disc. Really good dynamics and the disc is perfectly flat. Highly recommend.
Not all that impressed for the price. The fact that it's digital doesn't bother me all that much, although they should have been more transparent about it. Cutting/recording level is too high. It runs too close to the label, and inner groove distortion starts to creep in. Also, as a result, there are sibilants. There is no reason to cut at a level so high with quiet vinyl. I've got a SoundSmith Hyperion cartridge, and it has trouble tracking perfectly at times. Not great, but not terrible.

For anyone who doesn't know German: The text on the back has an error and says "Eddie Mercury" instead of "Freddie Mercury" from Queen.

The SACD(DVD) sounds good. The disc is made in Japan.
All SACDs are made in Japan now because Sony wants it that way and it bottlenecks everything.- So is this promo basically the Japanese original ? word

I don’t agree at all with most of the reviews that are written on this platform. This press has a nice sound. Also, I like the cover and the new picture.

Wow, this is a f** killer pressing. Compared with my French and German first pressing, this Japanese one is full everywhere. Billie Jean is simply amazing.
Feel lucky I grabbed this one in the Philippines.
Edited 2 days agoI had the CBS Mastersound (Thriller) and this regular-degular version absolutely smokes it. The Mastersound might be more clear but this OG has way more dynamics. Ended up selling my Mastersound copy.
