As the liner notes proclaim, this was intended to be "[...] the final Swans studio album".
First press run copies for both the US and European markets were housed in a three panel, rough card stock digipak with embossed front cover. The album has later seen consecutive reissues in jewel case format.
This release saw its first vinyl pressing as a limited edition boxed set in 2018. A second, less elaborate, unlimited pressing was announced for later the same year, but has not seen realization until 2021.
Also made available on CD the newly remastered recordings saw the album paired with Die Tür Ist Zu, an EP originally produced for the German market, featuring alternate versions of tracks related to this and earlier releases, thus constituting the Swans - Soundtracks For The Blind / Die Tür Ist Zu 3CD compilation.

Mine came with a bit of crackling at the start of the records, and the inner is a bit of a headache to handle/put inside the sleeve, but those are minor details to such a monumental piece of art. The layout materials are sturdy and a pleasure to touch.
About the sound, without being too nerdy, after a few spins on a Project Classic turntable, Marantz PM 70008 amp and Tannoy Revolution XT6F speakers, I feel that the sound is robust, grand, very open and spacious, much of my linking.
As with all things Swans, everything makes so much sense. If you can grab it, don't miss it or you'll regret.

I did not notice any issues. Get it while you can. See it's already going for way too much on here. I don't regret not getting the box. This set is nice.
has this been for sale through the YGR website, after the first run of gatefolds sold out, or is it merely a retail pressing?

The record sounds fantastic, though there's audible surface noise. It's great to see this press has solved the mixing issues with "YRP" and "Fan's Lament". I do feel disappointed they didn't fix the misalignment lettering on the album cover and i'm not a fan of how thick the line bits are on the side of the front and back covers. I also noticed some kind of metallic sheen to the silver in the middle. Other than that, this definitely was worth every penny. Thank you Swans.
On the OG boxset from 2018, there were a lot of complaints over Fan's Lament on side G. (My guess is inner groove distortion if it's the song that ends that side.) Curious to hear where these copies were pressed and more importantly, if Fan's Lament sounds clean. If anyone can chime in, thanks in advance.
This is possibly the greatest album of all time and this pressing sounds spectacular! Don’t hesitate to buy. The track orders tripped me up at first but it works perfectly.

Is there a separate listing for the handmade versions? I just scored the 2018 slipcase version which I wanted due to the error on the 2021 repress. The one I got has handmade cover-art by Jarboe. Any idea how many she did and how many Michael did?
