This was one of the first Krautrock experiences I ever had as a youth. I grew up with the son of the guy who played Keyboard on both first Thirsty Moon releases and other Brain stuff as well (check out " Dennis (6) ‎– Hyperthalamus " which is a monster LP). Anyways, glad people enjoy this music still after 40 years. :)

Great debut by this somewhat underrated Krautrock band. I've owned my original Brain/Metronome copy since I pulled it from the import section at 'Sam The Record Man' on Yonge Street in Toronto back in '72 or '73. My opinion of this LP today is the same as it was 40 years ago...excellent!

The music covers the whole gamut with a variety of musical styles, from heavy all out distorted jams, to shorter more focused songs.
The track 'Big City' makes great use of a variety of sound effects, including cars honking, traffic whizzing by, and what sounds like a partially filled metal pot of water being hit with a metal object, whilst being tilted back and forth. Through all this, the rhythm section keeps an infectious beat, along with with wailing guitars, and whirling Hammond organ.
I remember a brand of LSD called Yellow Sunshine, and I think this is what these guys were referring to when they wrote the 21 minute song of the same name. As far as early 70's Krautrock goes, I've always felt Thirsty Moon were right up there with the best employing a jazz/progressive sound; Satin Whale, Nine Days Wonder, Release Music Orchestra, Embryo, etc. At east concerning their first two albums anyways.
I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I've added my YouTube video/upload featuring the songs Rooms Behind Your Mind & Big City here at Discogs. It displays my Thirsty Moon LP's; jackets/covers labels, etc.
My video can be found on this LP's Discogs release page. Thanks.

This may be the "most wanted" of all five Thirsty Moon albums. It is was recorded by legendary engineer Conny Plank and the LP was released in 1972 on the Brain Label. It is now available as official CD with bonus tracks and very informative booklet. The label is Longhair Music. You can find lots of offers at ebay and also Amazon etc. It can also be downloaded at iTunes, Musicload and lots of other online stores.
