Pearl Jam – Riot Act

Excellent sounding pressing. One of my favorite pressings of all the PJ releases behind Vs. 45RPM, Yield 45RPM and Gigaton. As of writing this review, I have yet to hear Backspacer and Avocado on vinyl, so I cannot comment on how those two would compare. Riot Act is a difficult listen for the casual fan and for dedicated PJ fans. It's important to remember the context from which these songs were written, which were immediately follwoing the Roskilde Festival tragedy on June 30, 2000. Riot Act was released in 2002. Bear credence to those details and Riot Act becomes a fine listen.

Just picked up a sealed copy at a record fair, 25 quid. I absolutely commend Pearl Jam for their vinyl presentation, as always as really nice booklet etc, has caused a minor warp on the first lap but doesn’t affect the sound at all which is excellent. I was put off getting this for years due to the awful condition some were getting so suppose I got lucky, bought with low confidence but happy it’s in decent nick!!

This is my favorite PJ record. I disliked the theme as a kid but now living in the US listening to this I can really feel what Eddie was so mad about when Bush Jr was in office. Now Trump is in office and every word translates perfectly to him as well. Bu$hleaguer.

Great pressing and master of a unfairly reviled album. Not their best, that's for sure, but very enjoyable and with a handful of deep cuts to know better. Even the band serms to have forgot this one, a real shame. It's really interesting if you can give it the right amount of time it deserves.

I find this to be more dynamic than the reissue vinyl and the CD, but I find the CD to have the most real sounding presentation on my system.

This original vinyl is dynamic, but sounds a bit too smooth.

Sounds good, but A/B comparing with my CD I find the CD to have better punch, clarity and separation.

Has anyone else found Thumbing My Way to be really distorted? Other than that, great pressing!

There is a slight warp on my 2nd disc, as that's where the booklet was, but disc still plays and sounds ground. Overall, this pressing sounds great and would recommend it.

Comparing this with the 2017 reissue, this one wins for me. Nice, wide soundscape and deep bottom end. Worth it.
